The Rangers group is getting one last kick at the can, if they fail, everyone will get their changes. Trouba and Kreider go to NTC. Lindgren and Kakko becomes RFA’s again. Bread will be down to two years left, with the rising cap, the Rangers will be able to eat some of the contract if they want to try and get rid of him.

Can we stop suggest moving to Chytil to the wing? He's a center. He's played center for 95% of his NHL minutes, the organization has developed him as a center and played him at center at every turn, he's said that he's most comfortable as a center and he's always looked at his best when playing center.

He's a center. Any roster move ideas or lineup projections that involve moving him to the wing are about as realistic as suggesting Igor taking the 1LD slot.
Fine. Trocheck is moving to 2RW.

I think Chytil is a fine center, but I just don't see a better option for that 2RW hole with the situation the rangers are in currently. Chytil has had success before at RW with Panarin/Strome. The options around these boards for the 2RW slot are fourth/third line tweeners or hoping someone takes a discount to play with the rangers. If someone takes a discount or Drury can work some magic then I'm all for keeping Chytil at center but I'm done with playing Goodrow/Vesey types at 2RW while we have a top six caliber player playing on the third line.

Meh Toffoli is decent but he only has 1 year left and will be making more than his current AAV on his next contract.

He also would make our already slow team even slower

Standing pretty much pat also gives Lav some time to assess what he's working with and ask for specific types of players

The rangers would have the slowest top six in the NHL if they traded for Toffoli.

I've been reliable informed we already do...

The Devils sure are doing a great job of acquiring career Ranger killers. First Palat, now Toffoli.

I'm half expecting an announcement tomorrow morning from Justin Williams that he's coming out of retirement and signing a one year deal with Jersey.

Toffoli is 4-4-8 in 16 career games against NYR.

Palat murdered them, Toffoli has not.

Honestly, if you don't think the Chytil contract is a great contract after what PLD just signed for, then you just aren't being honest about it.

I didn't compare PLD to Chytil as a player, at all, merely that if PLD is getting 8.5M season and Chytil is getting 4.437M then it's a great contract. You might actually be the first person that I've seen think otherwise - on these boards, on multitudes of podcasts, or on the usual media outlets.

Yes, Drury deserves a ton of credit for that. There's plenty of other avenues to criticize him about, but the Chytil contract isn't one of them. Chytil took a huge step last year, let's hope he takes another one this year.

I didn’t mean to be suggesting Chytil’s contract wasn’t good; it seemed like relating his contract to the PLD signing was, be default, comparing the two. PLD has a greater ceiling, has achieved much more, is only 14 months older and even the 5v5 coping stats favor PLD. I mistakenly responded under the assumption that you were suggesting the two players were within the same tier. They’re not. And it’s not as close as NYR fans would like it to be.

IDK - Chytil hasn’t hit his ceiling yet either and if PP1 and PP2 are more balanced in ATOI there’s no reason to think he can’t flirt with 60 points.

PLD is definitely the superior player so far but is he 8x4M+ superior? I don’t think so.

Chytil has some deficiencies as a center imo. Faceoffs, over committing in the dzone, etc...a lot of those would change with a move to the wing.
