Sabres -- the Enigma

The team is not leaving Buffalo. Buffalo is a hockey centric city with top viewership for cup finals, outdoor games, any main game with metrics published.

If Terry sells, it'll be put into the sale that the team can not move.

They don’t know the difference between collecting good young players and building a winning team”team”. They have two top pair left shot D. So they trade for Byram? They need to balance their roster by trading from one of the positions of strength (Power or Dahlin) to fill in areas of need.

....and that leaves out the part about trading high end star latent away for subpar returns.

While the Sabres' current lease at KeyBank Center runs through October 2027, and the arena is owned by Erie County, the team's ownership (Pegula Sports and Entertainment) is actively investing in upgrades and renovations, suggesting a commitment to Buffalo and making it unlikely the Sabres will relocate in the near future.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:
  • Lease Agreement:
The current lease agreement between the Sabres and Erie County, which owns KeyBank Center, runs through October 2027.

  • Ownership and Investment:
The Sabres are owned by Terry Pegula, who also owns the Buffalo Bills, and Pegula Sports and Entertainment oversees both teams. Pegula has secured funding for a new Bills stadium and is also investing in upgrades and renovations at KeyBank Center.

  • Renovations:
Pegula Sports and Entertainment is planning functional improvements to KeyBank Center, including a new video board, sound system, and seat replacements. They are also exploring aspirational improvements like enclosing the arena's outdoor plaza.

  • Commitment to Buffalo:
Given the significant investment in both the Bills and Sabres arenas, and the fact that the Sabres are not in a situation where they are forced to relocate due to lack of facilities, it's unlikely the team will relocate in the near future.

  • NHL Expansion vs. Relocation:
The NHL would likely prefer to expand to new markets rather than relocate existing teams, as expansion generates more revenue.

  • Public Funding:
The Sabres recently received significant public funding for the KeyBank Center, which further suggests a commitment to Buffalo. "

I don't why people make shit up, just to stir up Sabres fans? Bro we're last in the conference. We're not a rival. We're not a threat. I enjoy your posts though. But to just say they may get relocated with no evidence to back it up is pretty dirty and panics an entire fanbase.

I have nothing against the Buffalo, and wasnt trying to rile anyone up. I thought I was speaking (my) truth, the franchise is really in the shitter.

I mean Buffalo area itself is a good market and there will probably always be enough support to keep the team there but with things being so dire i wouldn't rule out anything. if the losing continues rash decision might be made etc.

They ran him out of town ripping him the whole way too only for him to get his surgery, almost immediately win the Conn Smythe and is having a season currently where he will see some Hart votes. He is a top 10 player in this league. Sure, he isnt McDavid, but he would help a lot right now.
The Sabres didn't deserve Eichel.
