Anyway, the Avs did pretty well getting basically 50 percent Johansen, first, second rounder for basically Newhook.

It was basically two high 2nds (31, 37) and a recent 3rd in Fairbrother.

Lafreniere is in fact worth 5th overall if Newhook got that.

Good on Sakic for getting Johansen for nothing at half price and then recouping a 1st and 2nd for Newhook in a deep draft.

Is anyone else surprised that no other teams were in on Hayes at 50%? That's 3 years of Hayes @ ~$3.6m per season. I mean, honestly, that type of move would have been a good move for the Rangers. Play Hayes @ 3C, move Chytil to wing. A 3C for $3.6m that is good defensively?

Let’s combine some high unlikely rumors together for something of (almost) Bern proportions!

Laf to MTL for Guhle and 5th overall
Schneider to VAN for 11th overall

At 5 - take one of Smith, Carlson, Leonard, or Michkov
At 11 - look into combining with 23rd overall to trade up to take Michkov if possible, if not, take one of Dvorsky, Perrault, Moore, Benson, or Barlow
At 23 - look into trading back for a later 1st plus a second. Otherwise take bpa

Sign Carson Soucy to play on third pair with Guhle. Still need a top 6 RW, unless you play Chytil there, in which case you’ll then need a 3C.

If that Montreal offer were actually on the table, I'd seriously consider it. I like Guhle

Montreal wouldn't trade Guhle for Laf straight up after the PTSD they have from Sergachev/Drouin.
I see no way Laf is worth a 5th overall right now. Wish I was wrong.
