Not to get off topic, but Hagelin was also a key example of proper player development. I watched him play a lot in the NCAA and his game there was as a playmaker, perimeter player. At the NHL level he didn't have anything near the ability to play that kind of game. As Torts succinctly put it, Hagelin sucks on the power play.

He changed to a north-south game with his speed and motor, was able to chip in middle 6 points because of respectable hands, and had a great career.

Kakko has adjusted his game to fit the NHL, Laf has not. That's the key difference in the development of those two, from my perspective.
I don’t think Kakko changed his game to fit the nhl though. I think he’s adjusted to the size of the nhl.
The problem with guys who are physically big at 18 is that you then run into guys bigger and stronger than you in the nhl.

Kakko creates space in the same way in the nhl that he did in Finland.
Laf hasn’t figured out how he’s going to create space yet.

The New York Rangers are gauging their interest in two-time Stanley Cup champion and gritty checking line forward Barclay Goodrow.

According to Daily Faceoff president and senior insider Frank Seravalli, the Drury regime is gauging interest in Goodrow and could be willing to move him in order to create some cap flexibility. The Rangers signed Goodrow to a six-year, $21 million contract following his run with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Junior Drury Defective Brigade in Formation: You have 5.5 million, Fill in your preferences with cap hit in (( )).

Whos already where in the lineup?
If Laf is lw3 or is he rw?
Where’s Ck?
Assuming you bought out goodrow?

I can see Hathaway being signed.

He had strong metrics under Lavi and somehwat fills a need. Hopefully he doesn't cost much

I am distinctly afraid of what his next contract will look like.

Eller was mentioned, I could see that.

I could also see Craig Smith who finished the season in Washington and is probably looking for a spot to rebuild his value at RW. I think it was rumored a while back that the Rangers like Smith when he was in Nashville. He had a down year for sure last year but if he could get back to what he was, a 30-35 point RWer with good underlying stats, he may be a worthwhile gamble as a top-9 winger

- I think Jones takes this spot, but they should sign a vet like Holden or De Haan

McBackup (($800k cap hit, $400k bonuses))

Total = $4.9m
