I don’t think it would be an overreaction to say that everyone on the team minus Igor is up for a trade. I’m not saying to fire sale by any means, but this team has many contracts of guys past 30 and our core isn’t getting any younger. If you can sell high on a guy like Panarin (still a great regular season despite the playoffs) or Zibanajed, you have to consider for the right price. I’m not sure who would take their contracts, but it’s worth exploring. This team needs depth and speed.

Yes, Yes it would be.

Even hughes was largely invisible during this series and nothing they have in the system is better than him.
Everything you posted was pretty reasonable, until this. Hughes was all over the place, creating chances and being noticeable at all times. He was the best player on the ice virtually every single game. He's not afraid to take risks to try to make things happen, something our "veteran" superstars need to learn a thing or 2 about.

Q didn't make a mistake. He didn't just f*** up once. It also wasn't like he just thought some players were giving a guy a hard time. He knew about the whole situation, exactly what had happened, and not only didn't address it in some manner, but didn't even acknowledge it.

That isn't a mistake. Saying something insensitive, acting selfish, being mean to a player or staff member, is a mistake. Allowing abuse to continue because addressing it would be a "distraction" from a game is a character flaw bordering on being a bad person.

Could he come back? Sure. But he can't just wait in the shadows until the zeitgeist had moved on and he can slip back in without having done any work. He should be required to address the media. To speak with Beach. To answer questions about the situation. To be scrutinized. That would be fair and would make his return far more acceptable. Can't just wait in the shadows until the dust settles like a coward.
I think that is reasonable. I agree he should publicly address the issue and take full blame for his part in it.

I mean Panarin and Kane took plenty of risks. They were just dumb ones.

For the right price, why?

If we're going to add that caveat then even Igor is available for the right price.

A Nuclear detonation isn't really necessary or feasible. They should work on unloading what they can/need to unload ASAP (Panarin, Goodrow) and the others once it becomes easier (Trouba). Kreider's NMC becomes a NTC next year as well but they'd have no issue moving him right now if they wanted to and perhaps they should more as a favor to him.

No issue keeping him though as much as he drives me f***ing crazy at times. One of the few guys who has been capable of scoring in the playoffs.

flyers fan coming in peace, you guys need a hard a## coach, only coach that comes to mind is darryl sutter because this is not a soft team, you need a better coach that can push these players in the playoffs.

In regards to Hughes he was largely kept off the score sheet and was neutralized for long stretches of the game. In terms of being tormented by him for years I’m not as concerned as others are. Mcdavid who is far superior player still hasn’t won a cup but we have to be scared of Hughes? Panarin used to strike fear in teams as well. Now he’s a bum. Not saying Hughes will follow but we’ve had to play against Crosby and ovechkin for 20 years. The devils are neither of those teams in their prime. That’s the way I was going with it

Random question- Does Dolan consider this season a failure? All these "make mega changes" ideas are predicated on the idea that this season was a failure and regression, and thus major change is needed.

But does the guy who owns the organization think that?

Quenville messed up clearly. That said, hes a human being. At what point has he served his time, learned his lesson and is accepted back? This no second chances thing doesnt sit right to me. People love virtue singaling by putting others down and not letting them get back up. Obviously, it should all depend on the severity of his crime. What he did was not right but isnt he allowed to f*** up and maybe learn his lesson and become a better human being?
It's very similar to Beltran with the Mets. Everybody got off except him. Cora was brought back to coach Boston. The players didn't pay a price. It's insane.

And there's Mollie Walker saying the Rangers will be back next year without two top-six RWs. If this god-awful organization doesn't push Kakko up the depth chart to play with 20 and 93 then I will be spending a lot of nights away from the screen. I am so sick of this. What are we going to do next season? Play Vesey and Goodrow in the top-6 again? While I watch the only line that can maintain possession get 14:00 mins a night and no PP?

Kakko was just about the only forward willing to play with any grit near the netfront this series. Hopefully he is given a top 6 spot and PP time under a new coach. If not, again, Im not sure theres a coherent plan.

All Drury is going to be able to do is make some changes but mostly on the edges

They need to find more guys on the cheap that can play bottom 6 mins. Try to re-sign Motte if he’s cheap like Vesey. I’m not relying on guys like Cuylee at this point

Goodrow should be on the block, Lindgren should be on the block.
No, the same thing is true as it was last year, they need speed and grit in their top 6. The bottom line can be patched together but the top lines need a different element, mostly speed and forecheck.

I expect the Rangers are going to try to break in two forwards next year and maybe give another a significant look. The main candidates in my eyes are Cuylle, Othmann and Edstrom. There's size and/or physicality with those three. There's some possibility maybe with Pajuniemi as well but a lot will depend on his two way game and he's not as physical as the above mentioned three. He has a shot but he's not a guy who crashes the net a lot.

We don't have the cap space to go out and add big name UFA's or not unless we can move someone like Panarin which I don't think is likely or not without taking a big underperforming contract back.

I wonder what type of players would be available this offseason in trades. I was so focused on the playoffs I haven't even thought about the offseason and what types of players could become available.

Does any major difference maker shake loose and become available?

Do you run back largely the same core with a new coach and system? This would be the third coach for this core. Tinker around the edges with adding a few speedsters?

I'm really curious to where they go and what they're even able to do.

Realistically who could potentially be a target?

Don't come here trying to peddle Tortorella. Been there done that. Your problem now.

I don’t know how people can watch this league and keep wanting to recycle old news. The last thing we need is more nostalgic bullshit. Quenville is a dinosaur. So is Sutter. Messier? Lol Christ.

This roster doesn’t even fit with Gallant. You think these old 65 year olds are gonna scream them into modernization?

this team isn’t built for where this league is going. And none of those names will remotely help. Other than make people feel like we’re tough.

Rangers will do the ultimate Rangers move and after hiring Quenneville, they resign Kane, sign Toews, and pull Keith and Seabrook out of retirement kicking and screaming. NY Blackhawks win a Cup in 2024 with Toews scoring a hat trick in Game 6 of the ECF after guaranteeing a win. I can see it now.

Just need to follow the tried-and-true Rangers method of winning a Cup.

I think this would be a less bitter pill to swallow if there was a single prospect/young player on this team that I was excited about. Ya know? Last night sucked…but we’re closer to Player A making the team. Not a soul in this organization excites me.

Going to need to divest the Panarin deal. We'll end up getting pennies on the dollar, but you take what you can to move that cap hit out for a couple lesser cap hits, which means we're going to take some deals with term on the way back.

@NYR Viper mentioned Nashville and Duchene, but I'd much rather see what they would add to someone like McDonagh. Trotz is the new guy in charge, and I'd guess he wants to make some changes there. There isn't much up front for them. Can pay Panarin his bonus and then ship him off. Maybe even be able to get a few pieces from their system. On top of that Nashville has never been a tear it down team.

The other team making a change is Calgary. I've been a proponent of Dillon Dube for a while. Think he would work really well here as a complimentary piece on the wing.
