Roster Building Thread V (2022-23): Cheese and WINE

So woke up this morning, and thought about some things. Even if most of us want Panarin, myself included, how can it happen? who is going to take on that contract? There are players making million less producing more than him, and do other things on the ice.

Want to keep… Fox, Mika, Kreider, Shesty, Kakko, Chytil and, Tarsasenko

Everyone else could care less. But want Panarin and Trouba gone. Not going to happen with those two unfortunately. Will be here for at least another 2-3 years.

Sather's ego is too big, while still leading Dolan to water, that he will not bring Mess in. Mess would want to run the show. I would get on my hands and knees and beg Mess to coach this team. They need a reality check. Will never happen. They will hire another retread HC that has been with a million clubs and never won.

Ehhh I think it'll be easier than you expect. He's a PPG forward, the cap is heading no place but up, and there are a lot of teams desperate for high end talent.

The only sticking point is whether there is any overlap between where Panarin would wave for, and who wants him. He can go play with his buddy Strome in Anaheim. No need to do any unpaid labour in the playoffs.

I think we see some major changes this off-season. I wouldn't be surprised to see Tarasenko and Kane re-signed which will make for joyous conversations on here.

I am expecting Panarin to be traded.

I am expecting Goodrow to be traded.

I am doubtful Trouba is traded.

I think we can reset in 3 years. By then Trouba and Panarin will be gone. Goodrow can be traded with one year left. And trade Shesterkin in his final year too. Giving him 10 M would suck. This would prevent that and we can likely get good assets for him.

Honestly, if you gave me the option of redrafting this entire team like an expansion draft I'd take you up on it.

Including Shesterkin. He doesnt deserve to be on a team like this. He is relied on way too much and not only is it unfair to him, but his great play helps feed this teams deficiencies. He is headed towards a Lundqvist 2.0 career and he deserves better, because he is better than Hank. What i saw from him this series clinched that for me.

The young players are going nowhere and/or are not allowed to develop unless they are a defenseman.

Might as well build a Seattle like team from scratch with no big names, no big contracts and just start over.

But, we don't have that luxury of tearing it down. We are stuck with this core. What fools we are for believing. What a punch to the gut. The absolute worst postseason ever.

Thank God we at least have that first round pick but the way its gone theyll likely f*** that up too.

It’s tragic that Chychurn got moved at the deadline and we were too busy doing gymnastics for one hip Kane, he would provide a lot of what this team needs on the back
 
Bread has to go.Goodrow too..he's literally awful at everything while getting paid handsomely
 
We get rid of players like Hagelin, Fast, PooPoo year after year and then wonder why we never have the puck. Get some f***ing forecheckers who can play anywhere in the top 9. Hyman, Palat, Lekhonen, Nichushkin - those kinds. They are outcast from teams all the time before they explode like Nichushkin did. Do some scouting for once and get guys like that.

Who here thinks Fox will age well with his pathetic skating ability? This league is about SPEED and defenseman need to be able to move the puck with speed. I love the guy, but he has a lot to work on in the off season.

A new coach that can get this team to play to their strength can win many hockey games. They are locked into these guys. Gallant is not the coach for this team.
 
Staple was critical of Gallant’s coaching. “He is not a master tactician; The Rangers coaching staff makes its plan and sticks to it, with the biggest tweaks coming on a couple guys swapping lines when things are going poorly.” He believes the Blueshirts would be interested in former NHL coach Joel Quenneville if he’s reinstated by the league this summer.

He has a bad game 7 and we get stuff like this lol.

Fox, Makar and McAvoy might as well all retire at this point.

Panarin to Florida for Reinhart and Bennett is about the best you can get. Panarin isn't going anywhere. Florida would also be crazy to do that deal. They have two $9M+ players already.
