Rangers came out of a 5 year rebuild and in game 7 of the series they didn't have a single player in their top-six who is on the right side of 30. Trocheck is basically 30 so whatever.

That's absolutely pathetic and they only have themselves to blame. They've done everything they can do keep the kids from getting the opportunities that the Devils gave to their young players.

Shame meeting here like this but it's nice to see you.

I will have a new template in the near future. Sneak peak, UFA Jesper Fast will be on it. Right that damn wrong with a quickness. Get it, Quickie. There will also be a righty in the bumper as long as Zib is on PP1 in his office. Quickie will be an option there too.

Let’s be honest, nothing will really change for this organization until a new owner (because Dolan is incompetent lol) totally overhauls everything. Glen Sather’s arrogant influence permeates too much in terms of player development, scouting, lack of analytics, sports science, coaching, you name it and Rangers aren’t modern and forward thinking in philosophy on how to be a great team in the current era. Until that happens, the Rangers will be what have always been sans 1994, Just not good enough.

Win a series and be an integral part of doing so. I'm not asking for a Cup but no series wins is not a good look. That goal he scored was great. He needs to do more of that along with his regular shooting, because that kind of goal is really not his style at all. But good for him.
Still couldnt use auston matthews?

This is exactly it. The Devils let their young players play and struggle, and are now paying dividends.

Through those struggles they built actual chemistry.

We had that a few years ago with Kreider-Zibanejad-Buch, and to some extent the kid line, but we had to wait till the last game of the series to see them back together.

Team Escrow/Escrow Cup took a hit tonight. No Rangers advancing in the playoffs. Jeff Marek and Elliotte Friedman were discussing the salary cap and escrow today. Elliotte said he spoke to someone who knows this stuff and the escrow will not be paid off this season. They will fall just short. Toronto. Good. Edmonton. Good. Vegas. Good. Seattle. Good. Both expansion team make money. Carolina. Bad. Jersey. Bad. Florida. Bad. Dallas. Bad. Boston and the Rangers losing is bad.

Why would he want to come back?

Gallant is not getting fired two years into his tenure with this team, especially when Drury's first move was to hire him. And he shouldn't be fired, that's an idiotic idea.

Newsflash. The kids are all alright, and nothing more. Hockey players simply don't take that long to develop skills -- they are not improving, they're adjusting and finding their place you lead a llama to water, but when the other option is a decrepit camel, you generate that.

Bingo. I think the Devils may have been a little too willing to just strip everything bare and let the team struggle but you can't argue with the success their young players are having. The Rangers wasted 2 or 3 years of development time for their top picks on trying to find the right mix of players to skate with Panarin. All that time, effort, and money spent because the second highest paid player in the NHL needed specific line mates in order to not mope around the ice like a toddler who isn't getting ice cream after the game.

Kakko can't get into the top-six because the vets don't like the fit. Laf can't get in the top-six because the Rangers have $18m in money allocated ahead of him. Chytil can't get into the top six because the Rangers have vets ahead of him and Panarin doesn't like skating with him.

It’s funny you say that.

We had a pretty good first line in Kreider-Zibanejad-Buchnevich.

We drafted Kakko, who really needed a solid veteran center or LW to help him in that first year, but because Panarin didn’t like this fit it moved him down the lineup. I don’t think some people understand just how bad that was for Kakko, who IMO really started breaking out this season. Meanwhile Panarin was taking Kravstov aside and helping him with his one timer. Thanks a lot for that bread.

Based on their play we are letting the kids struggle...
But KK had the 3rd most 5v5 time of any forward. Laf (5th) only had 10 mins less than Mika, and 90 mins more than CK.
How much more opportunity do they need to show what they can? It's not like we were playing these guys 10 min a night exclusively with Goodrow and Vesey

I can understand the PP argument to some extent, but they were given opportunities on the 2nd PP, and maybe they need to show some semblance of talent with those minutes if they want more?

get rid of trouba and find a couple of puck moving D. florida found a bunch of guys on the scrap heap. they got forsling off waivers and montour for a 3rd. find those guys, i would even move Schneider. let Jones play and see what happens. we're locked into the forward core on this roster so you might as well give them some help.

So what are we thinking for opening night lineup next year? Imo we are kinda forced to run it back due to all the nmc’s and ntc’s.

- do we try to move one of kandre or laff this offseason? I doubt it. Imo reasonable bridges
- can we afford to keep goodrow? Idk maybe?
- do we say well shit man, we need some young legs who can play with an edge and will go to the dirty areas? Well we have 3 of them almost ready to play in cuylle, sykora and othmann. And id personally sign hathaway to a 1 year if possible

It think sykora is best served with a year in hartford though.

Kreider-zib-kakko
Panarin-chytil-vesey
Laff-trocheck-othmann
Cuylle-goodrow-garnett hathaway

Lindy-fox
Kandre-trouba
Jones-schneider

Zac jones is one of the best pmd’s in the A yet we refuse to play him

When Chytil was racking up goals Kakko was the line driver. He also played well with Kreider and Zibanejad. Is he producing at the clip you’d like for someone of his draft caliber? No, but he still put up 37 points at even strength. That’s pretty good.

Laf has been disappointing.

23-24 Plan: Play the Kids, Sit the Vets, Tank
24-25 Plan: Play the Kids, Sit the Vets, Tank
25-26 Plan: Play the Kids, Sit the Vets, Tank

26-27 Plan: Sign the Gods, Win

Kaprizov - McDavid - Celebrini
Lafreniere - Chytil - Kakko
Othmann - Zibanejad - Hagens
Goon - Goon - Goon

Lindgren - Makar
Miller - Fox
Dickinson - Schneider

Even if the cap went up they wouldn't have enough cap or flexinility to make the neede changes. Need to wait for Trouba's nmc to expire, that's step 1.

yeah one of the most infuriating things this entire season was him getting sent down after a few rough games in favor of ben f***ing harpur. if they let jones play and work through it during the season he might've been a useful weapon in this series.
Could’ve used him on PP2 also.
