Listen, if panarin is moved its not going to be for futures like prospects and picks. The main pieces will most likely be like a 2nd and 3rd line player and a 1st rounder. Thats how you balance our the contract.

Those of you who think we would trade panarin for picks are out to lunch. It will be for hard nose 2 way players that help balance the contract of panarins 11.6m.

You have a very generous way of saying "3rd liners" but I more or less agree on the return you proposed.

I'd like a solid 2nd or 3rd pairing defenseman, more than anything else.

IF, and again this is an IF, the Rangers bomb out of the playoffs, I think Schneider may have hit John Moore/Brady Skjei territory. IE the Rangers don't see him developing the way they thought, and so he becomes trade bait.

He's probably worth a high 2nd rounder at the very least.

Brady Skjei was traded at 25 years old. John Moore was 24. Baden Schneider is 21.

I sure hope that in a few months we can look at the last few pages of this post and have a good laugh. Some unbelievably bad takes.

They are all truths. Panarin is trash in the playoffs, a turnover machine who is rubbing off on every other player in the locker room with his idc attitude. Get him the f*** off the team and get players who can play.. 2 2nd line players and a 1st. make the salary work and fill the team with hard nosed players that can play

Panarin has 4 turnovers in 4 games.

If his play/production continue, though, I'm all for him moving along - but, unfortunately, he has to agree to it.

I hope the guy figures it out.

He had 4 turnovers in game 4 alone! All i saw was him making horrible cross ice passes from the blue line or red line and turning it over. Hes a goner and i want him off the team. BEYOND OVERRATED

I led the Panarin brigade.

It’s No where good enough when it comes to Playoffs.

Its time to make some real changes to this team.

I very much hope you're right but I think the Rangers see Schneider as closer to Larry Robinson than Brady Skjei.

It's not just that the defense corps is an issue, it's also that I have very little hope of the Rangers seeing it as an issue. If you're 6'3"+ and hit, you can defend. If you can defend, you don't need to move the puck to be effective.

That's still a mentality in this organization.

Again, would love to be wrong on this.

The Lightning won with Schenn and Bogosian. The Avalance won with Jack Johnson. You can get away with your token slug who hits and "defends" without much offense.

The Rangers go completely the other way. They have a token puck-mover.

Granted.

We traded Erixon at 21, but he hadn't played nearly as much in the NHL, and we needed to give up at least something of value even if it wasn't CBJ's first choice.

On a related note, I enjoyed Andrew Copp on this team last year. Swiss army/utility kind of guy. Could do everything - shoot, pass, defend, PK. Play with whoever. Not flashy, just went to the right areas. A younger version of that kind of guy would be great.

That's Vince Trocheck.

He's been bad in this series but in his defense, Gallant keeps trying him and Panarin which I've never been crazy about.

Kreider-Trocheck-Kane were a line for like 20 seconds in this series and they scored.

I don't like Trocheck defensively. He can probably run his mouth better than Copp can, but that's about it.

edit: also Copp had better decision making about when to pass and when to shoot. Trocheck will shoot every time even if he has a much better passing option. Tunnel vision.

It doesn't matter who you have on your 3rd pair...

If your top guys are not performing.... You're not winning.

What Cup Team won with their top 2 offensive forwards doing nearly nothing? It's not to say we couldn't be better on the 3rd pair.... but if Our top two forwards showed up even slightly, the series is over already or at worst, it's 3-1.

Our Centers have been really poor so far. They also play a role in our transition, or lack of it.
