Who knows what the playoffs might bring? Or if not I’d say he gets a good look next year.It is a shame we really never got a chance to see Jones qb the second unit which has a decent amount of skill

A lot would have to happen for him to come into the lineup, and none of it is good. He's currently behind, miller, lindgren, Mikkola and Harpur, and if it's playoffs I'd bet they'd recall Robertson for his size.Who knows what the playoffs might bring? yeah I think you're right. No way is GG playing Jones over Harpur or probably even Hajek ugh.A lot would have to happen for him to come into the lineup, and none of it is good. Hopefully next year he will get a fair shot but I wouldn't hold my breath. Some GM out there should be smart enough to try to pry Jones away if he's not gonna get a fair shot here.
Bettman, though, left open the possibility that the NHL and NHL Players' Association could agree to raise the cap for next season even if the debt is not paid off in full.
"We're hearing around the bend from players and others that there may be interest in having that [discussion]," Bettman said.
But raising the salary cap prematurely would also require the NHL to raise the 6 percent escrow rates the players are required to pay in the last three years of the NHL/NHLPA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
"If you're going to raise the cap prematurely then we're going to have to look at the escrow percentage as well," Bettman said. "The two are inexorably tied together."
Well i don't necessarily agree that we have to trade every prospect that doesn't get an immediate spot on the roster. Jones wasn't, probably still isn't ready for an nhl job and it wouldn't hurt him to finish this year in the ahl, have a muscle building offseason and compete for a job next year. Small d sometimes take some time to get adjusted to playing against stronger players. I kinda wish all our prospects would spend atleast 1 year in the ahl to be honest.yeah I think you're right. The league came out prior to the Kane trade and said “don’t try putting players on LITR for deadline cap space”The most obvious thing to you is that they were afraid to get "dinged by the league" by doing everything exactly according to the book? On what grounds exactly?
The only thing I remember the league saying is don't trade for players on LTIR.The league came out prior to the Kane trade and said “don’t try putting players on LITR for deadline cap space”
How much more obvious do you want it dude? Lol

Something, again, doesn't seem right. The NHL will negotiate a cap raise even if escrow isn't paid off, but if they do then they will increase escrow? Won't that make the owners then owe money to the players?![]()

Yeah that's 10 games, but it's 10 games AND 24 days, so it would've ended up being like 12 games because of that "and."I think that’s wrong. He’d be able to return this Sunday against Nashville
I've always read that as and/or, whichever comes first.Yeah that's 10 games, but it's 10 games AND 24 days, so it would've ended up being like 12 games because of that "and."
If they LTIRed him retroactive to the day he was injured, Feb 25, he wouldn't be eligible to come back until March 21 against Carolina. Maybe even later, since that would be the 24th day he may have had to miss that too.
Bettman indicated a willingness to negotiate a cap increase with the NHLPA. However, Bettman said an increase in escrow would be necessary from the players side.

Escrow has always been an issue for the players.
This guy previously worked for the NHLPA and he despises the NHL front office
$83.5M in 23-24
$88M in 24-25
The first proposal, no. The odds of neither of them breaking out is too low for that, IMO.Would you trade Kakko and Chytil for Zegras?
or
Kakko and our 1st? Move Chytil to RW.

Someone plant that seed into Zegras' mind. Demand a trade to New York.
Bettman, speaking on the last day of the NHL general managers meetings, said the cap could increase by about $4.5 million, instead of $1 million, if hockey-related revenues for the rest of this season exceed the current projections, allowing the remaining escrow debt owed by the players to the owners to be paid in full.
It will exceed projections and that number will be around $5M+ or Tob comes back and posts using Tim Hortons WiFi. $88M cap. It's a sign.
They have to beat Revenue expectations by $100M. They beat it by $600M last year. When Toronto beats TB to play Boston in round 2 and the Rangers beat NJ and Carolina to go back to the ECF to play either Boston or Toronto the revenue is going WAY UP.
We also need to hope for a lot of 7 game series'
TNT is LIGHTYEARS ahead of ESPN. the contrast is absolutely comical.... how can ESPN be so bad at production?
which broadcast would you rather watch? The ESPN people really do not understand content or how to keep people engaged
I doubt Anaheim would trade Zegras for Kakko+1st. I could see them do the first if they win Bedard/Fantilli.Would you trade Kakko and Chytil for Zegras?
