The league came out prior to the Kane trade and said “don’t try putting players on LITR for deadline cap space”

How much more obvious do you want it dude? Lol
That warning was specifically referring to players like Nyqvist, who was already hurt and expected to be out for the rest of the regular season. Minnesota traded for him, but they had the cap space to fit him without LTIR.

We 100% could have put Lindgren on LTIR once we acquired Kane.

Tarasenko playing motivated and showing how much of an all around player he is. He battles and you can see his effort out there consistently. Strong guy too. Would love if there was a way to keep him here beyond this year.

Does the kid line work anymore? Their production has dropped. They have random good shifts. Panarin and Kreider are still 1-2 on the LW. Kreider scored his 30th goal last night. He will score at least 5 more goals this season. If you look at 2nd contracts for former 1st pick overall, these players don't sign two year bridge contrscts worth $2M-$2.5mM AAV. How does Lafreniere feel about the situation? I am sure he loves being a Ranger but this is his career. Would he better off in another situation? The same thing goes for Chytil. He plays on the 3rd line. He would be a top 2 center on other teams playing in more situations. Look at it from his point of view. Zibanejad and Trocheck are better than him. Fil is two years away from group II. How does he view the situation?

Staple was talking about the Rangers young D in Hartford. He said a pro scout told him Robertson is having a very strong 2nd season. Robertson or Jones for the 6th D next season. The Rangers need to re-sign Lindgren to an extension this summer. He is a very competitive player and the Rangers need him to pair up with Fox. One more season at $3M. $4M plus in his next contract. He will be 27 when his next contract starts.

I think the "trade request" speculation on Chytil or Lafreniere is absolute bogus, like it was with Kakko. These guys know their game is growing and they are better off here, on a true Cup contender, than with a rebuilder. Plus actually getting a Cup would make them more money in their career than any other things they do at this stage. I do think it's possible they try to sign Chytil to a 2 year/4m type deal with his inconsistency, history of injury and subpar defensive play. I definitely see them exploring a trade of Kakko for picks in this years dt=raft or a similarly aged player with a more direct skillset. Kakko is developing into Jesper Fast.

I love Lindgren, but the Rangers are preparing for life without him. He's a heart and soul guy and in a vacuum i woudnt dream of trading him, but we cant repeat the sins of the father and sign a potentially injury prone player to a deal we regret when we have 2 promising LDs getting seasoned in Hartford. Plus I'd be interested in what Mikkola wants on a short term deal.

People want to contend for a decade? The move would be to sign Tarasenko and Kane to manageable deals and deal Goodrow, Lindgren & Kakko for high picks or talented ELC players and slot Cuylle/Robertson/Jones/Othmann into their roster spots. People may not like it but This Is The Way

Lindgren is pretty much the opposite of injury prone.

If you can sign Lindgren for 3 years at $3.5-4MM AAV you do it. He's a warrior and stabizes the defense. It wouls take him to 29 years old at the end of the contract. That is the one you need to be careful about.
These are pretty unrealistically low numbers. Can’t think of why he’d do only 3 years and at these $3.5-$4? The Rangers will have a good deal if it’s 4-5 years and for around $5m.

The Rangers should just end the charade. Trade Lafreniere, Kakko and Chytil. The Rangers don't value them very much. Trade all three of them. Sign Kane to a three year contract. Sign Toews or Bonino to be the 4th line center. Lafreniere is blocked by Panarin and Kreider. Chytil is stuck behind Mika and Trocheck. Kakko will get never an opportunity in this organization. His agent should ask for a change of scenery. The Rangers went out and acquired two RW's before the deadline. The guy is off the PP. Trade him so they don't destroy the rest of his career. It looked like Kakko would get a run with Mika and Kreider a few months ago. Drury can trade whatever assets he acquires for rentals.

Kane played 22 minutes last night. 20 shifts. Make it the Panarin and Kane show. Sign Anisimov to center them. He is still trying to keep the NHL dream alive. He plays for the Flyers AHL team.
Holy meltdown…

Hes an RFA with arbitration rights not a UFA so the Rangers have some leverage. A deal taking him to 29 will give him a chance to get one more larger contract. Some where around $4MM would be a fair deal for a player like Lindgren.

Would you trade Kakko and Chytil for Zegras?

or

Kakko and our 1st? Move Chytil to RW.

Panarin Zibs Tank
Laffy Zegras Chytil
Kreider Trocheck Othmann

Someone plant that seed into Zegras' mind. Demand a trade to New York.
I do not think the Ducks would accept either offer. I would do both. Zegras is the leading scorer on the lowest scoring team in the league and regardless of the whole “we’d have ruined him too” narrative, he already has the confidence of being a top line, top PP guy - he’d slot in here with talented top six players and do well. Unless he wanted to force his way to NY, I don’t think we have anything attractive enough to get Anaheim excited. Plus Zegras is too much of a draw for a team that probably should be bottom of the barrel in ticket and jersey sales. Even if they got winning value in the on ice portion of the trade, they’d never replace the hype and marketability of Zegras.

Don’t see the Ducks trading Zegras. They will probably give him between a Boldy and Hughes type contract.
