The way Scheifele handled the post Jake Evans hit has been a turnoff. He's going down the victimhood train. Absolutely no self awareness and sounds totally tone deaf. He put himself in that situation; he has to own it. He has been unable and/or unwilling to do so.
I would still take Scheifele on this team 10 times out of 10 if after that hit he two-handed him with his stick and spit on him.

but this is kind of the "hockey trade" I wouldn't mind for Buchnevich if they dont keep him

I could go either way with the Buchnevich trade, hockey trade or trade for futures. See what the best offers are and go from there. If Zib is moved, I think it's a hockey trade; if Buch is moved, I can see that being a futures deal. Just a guess though, I could be wrong.

Not saying I wouldn't deal for him, but I would have maturity concerns.
I don't have those at all. Being upset about being suspended for 4 games in the second round of the playoffs isn't indicative of being immature and everything else he's done in career is indicative of being so. Regardless, it's a moot point, he's not being traded.

what’s a futures deal? More picks? This team needs players now. I don’t see moving a proven Buch for a maybe that might develop in 5 years. Sign him or trade him for players now is my take.

Which was idiotic. Chayka set back that franchise for years with his pursuit of simply making the playoffs at all costs (trading for Kessel, Hall). Tocchet was probably part of that plan with his Kessel-whispering powers.
Chayka was pushed hard by his owner to win now. Barroway wanted (needed) to flip the team. A winning team is more attractive to buyers.

See, this is where owners come in.

Just so you know using strong language does not make your point more valid.

Your point is wrong.

In the future I suggest using critical thinking rather than parroting media narratives.

If you think for a second that Montreal or any team Toronto played was worried about the Leafs secondary players beating them, then its you that needs critical thinking.

No one is worried about Kerfoot, Galchenyuk, Spezza, Simmonds, Thornton beating them.

Bums and has-beens. Thinking critically will not change that.....at all

Just curious how you think this trade helps Vegas. Full disclosure, I'm way higher on Tuch than I am on Buch, but I can't see Vegas remotely interested when Tuch is signed way longer on a team friendly deal. They already have cap issues & need a true Center, not another wing. Plus Buch is unproven in the playoffs & Tuch always raises his game another level when the games start to matter.

Sometimes this Board is out in left field. They criticize the heck on contracts for guys like CK who yes is older but has proven he can score 30 goals a year and is a team leader. On the other hand now people want to lock up a guy like FC who we don't even know what position he should play and quite honestly has been uneven in performance. I will tell you now the biggest mistake this team can make is going into next season with FC penciled in as the number 2 center. For a team that wants to take the next step you cannot take a leap of faith that huge. I would either keep him as the 3rd center, move him to wing or in the right deal trade him. I do believe this front office views him differently than a lot of posters on this board do and I think its 50/50 he is on the roster come training camp as he could be viewed as a trade chip.
Wow. You are clueless. Appreciate the open admission.

Chytil had a really good season last year. You need to look at his underlying statistics. His counting stats were heavily suppressed by absurd usage by Quinn. The best thing this team can do is lock that kid up long term on a sweetheart deal and move him up the lineup.

And no one is knocking CK in a vacuum. They are grappling with the reality that his deal is problematic because he’s the team’s 3LW. CK is a first world problem created by winning the Laf lottery.

Who cares. Let's fantasize Uncle Larry isn't just throwing shit at the wall & Shiefele's lowering his value with his pity party. Send him our way. Anyone not named Laf, Fox, or Kakko is on the table.

One of the reasons you give a player a no move is if they took less salary.
As much as we hate the kreider contract, he took less than an open market contract because he wanted to stay in nyc. The only way to control staying is that nmc. It’s a give and take, we don’t do nmc’s we’ll likely pay more in cap hit.
And if the cost is much higher, then goodbye.

Drury is as meticulous and doing the right thing as they come from everything I read about the guy. If Chytil has these underlying impressive numbers I’m confident that Drury will be able to recognize it too

I just think there aren't many available centers who fit the perfect mold for us. Danault is closest but he may not hit the market and when he does the price will not be right.

That's the main reason I lean towards someone like Robert Thomas. He's young and is not a finished product, but frankly, the Rangers need to improve their player development. Thomas has certain tools we're missing even if the results thus far aren't obviously filling a need. Can Thomas become a player like Danault? Can he be better than that?

The apparent imperative from Dolan to compete now... This is the part that makes me concerned. Sometimes the market doesnt have what you need. You have to be creative and try something that has some risk to it.

I'm starting to think unless the Rangers get Eichel for a reasonable price or someone who is a clear upgrade to Strome that they like, maybe they should hold and wait for that center they want to come, maybe Barkov hits UFA in 2022, maybe Courtier hits FA in 2022 etc. There will be opportunities. Give Chytil more time/better linemates to see what you have if Strome isn't in long term plans and keep building like we are doing. Add some physicality to the bottom six and re asses the next year
