Honestly even if we gave away lias, we could bump chytil down with kravstov, have names play center and hes a passer with two shootas, assuming chytil wouldnt be ready.

Very possibly true, but then you should expect the pick to be a 1st rounder OR lindgren to be upgraded to a better d prospect that can help them now if you want the jets to take such a substantial long term cap dump. In my scenario I am looking at it that our major contract increases are coming in two years when most of the big money is coming off our cap already, so it could work.

I agree that Lindgren would need to be upgraded or we'd have to part with our first rounder. Either way, I guess whether you even like the idea or not depends on whether you think Laine is the real deal or a lazy Fortnite playing bum who has no interest in bettering himself any further than what he was blessed with. I don't have an answer - could be amazing for the Rangers or it could really stink.

good points really and i agree. prefer to have that high end center.

ck gone. add laine.
fox gone. add ADA
staal gone. add hajek
andersson gone. add howden.

i still like that.
ODC, I know you're a huge ADA fanboy, but even you know there's no way in hell the team goes out and spends assets to acquire the kid who forced his way here one year early, signs him, and then turns around and trades him that same year.

A trade for Laine just does not make any sense.

Would rather re-sign Kreider and keep his player type in the lineup than pay the price just to acquire Laine. And then you’ll have to re-sign him and deal with his flaws.

I rather resign Kreider regardless but I don't care for Laine. Rather have someone with passion

Laine wants too much money for us to entertain it. Cant have our future cap space be empty when Kakko, Fox, Miller, Kravtsov etc all need deals. If we hadn't gotten Panarin I'd entertain it but we got the better player without giving up assets.

Unless the "solid offer" is Strome, Names, and Staal then there is zero chance we could fit Laine under the cap.

and then he would chew up whatever cap space they gained.

The Rangers could lose pieces to this rebuild pretty quickly . . . unless the cap is destined for $150 million in a few years

Looking at the practice lines it appears as though Kravtsov might be headed to Hartford and that Hajek has the leg up on Lindgren. Most of the lines look like what the season will start

Laine is not a center. Nor do i think he is a great fit. I am simply trying to picture what a deal would look like. However, i feel like we should definitely he more intrigued about a 40 goal scorer. He doesn’t play center but having Laine and Panarin on the same team is going to be hard enough for teams to deal with without the faceoff losses.

Yup, how I see it too. 4th line Lemieux - Andersson - Fast is totally fine for me. I don't really have faith any of the players besides Kravtsov will turn out anything more than a fringe player or ahl lifer. Great they can practice with the team, but only 2 more games left...

Unless we make a side deal with Seattle, we stand to lose one of Hajek, Lindgren, Howden or Lemieux. And that's assuming we've already traded off Buchnevich and Skjei. Choices have to be made, or Seattle will make them for us and we'll have nothing to show for it.
A lot can change in two years.

DQ specifically said that the lines from Game 4 were much more akin to what the opening night lineup would be than tonight and Saturday.

So, don't read too much into the lines for the last two games.
