It’s a preseason game. Andersson SHOULD be playing in Strome’s spot. Strome is a veteran who isn’t in danger of being sent down. It’s a meaningless game for him. If that’s where he ends up when actual points in the standings are on the line, fine, but it’s hard to expect Andersson to show anything playing with an AHL/replacement level player and a goon. Meanwhile Lemieux, Andersson and Fast would be a viable checking line even during the regular season that could catch some chemistry and produce since they all hustle.
Move Names.
Panarin - Zib - Kakko
Kreider - Chytil - Buch
Andersson - Strome - Kravtsov
Lemieux - Howden - Fast
Kegg
Skjei - Trouba
Staal - ADA
Hajek - Fox
Hank
Georgiev
Everyone is always begging to see some offense from Andersson but he’s stapled to the two biggest scrubs possible while Howden centers Kaako and Kravstov. Later people will talk about how our #7 overall pick is busting and Howden shows more offensive flashes.
Why do you assume that just because the lines start that way, they'll stay that way for the entire game? And how do you know this isn't a way to showcase Strome? Maybe Gorton has had discussions about him with some other team and they want to see him in the top 6.
It’s a good opportunity for Lias to show that he can carry a line though, get it up ice etc.
MUCH easier said than done If he was moveable he'd be gone already.
Were the 81 games Strome played last year not enough for a team to know who he is that they need to see him in the top 6 in a preseason game?
Hopefully GMJG is just doing his best to get a great return. I believe he could 50% him to a lot of teams needing depth for a 2nd or 3rd round pick. Easier to move Names than a broken down Fast or a big questions make in Strome. Plus, both Fast and Strome outplay Names regularly. So Names is the odd man out.
He can’t not his game
Then he should be in the AHL.
It wouldn’t surprise me if it’s a bit of a test by DQ.
Edmundson was a 26 year old pending UFA that wasn't quite playing up to his current contract. They may have got a 3rd for him at the deadline, probably isn't a great top-four D. This trade is essentially Faulk for a late 1st. Given that he's now signed to a good number and term, not too bad.
Bigger question is now concerning Pietrangelo and Parayko. Someone has to go in the next year. Which are the Blues willing to move one season after winning the Cup?
EDIT
probably Pietrangelo, to the highest bidder.
6.5 per, no reported trade protections yet. He'll be 34 when it expires. I think its pretty ok.He's not signed to a good number or term.

its slightly less than what McD got, for the same term. And McD is three years older. Again, no trade protections reported yet, and the cap is going up. I maintain its a team-friendly number.35, actually. He still has 1 year left on his current deal.

How was Faulk's expiring contract anything for Carolina to worry about? This was a season of Faulk plus his negotiating rights for Bokk, a late 1st round pick. That seems like a good deal for the Blues to me.I'm assuming they're planning on keeping Pietrangelo, so basically it means that the Blues are spending $6.5M on a 3rd pairing dman that may or may not be their ppqb. IMO, it's just poor asset management, and CAR has the added benefit of getting both Bokk and not having to worry about that contract being on their books.
