Speculation: Roster Building Thread V (2019/2020)

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. I've been screaming about this for years. To me he's going to be trade fodder soon. He doesn't bring enough to be a perimeter player.

if Brett Howden is a future Brandon Sutter that is really disappointing.

Andersson’s gonna get first crack at 2c the way it’s shaping up. Howden 3c. Chytil centering kravtsov in Hartford
 
I think andersson looks better this training camp than chytil and howden is locked in despite what people may think. Last year chytil got it and andersson went down I think if it’s fair and you got to be to andersson, he’s winning the spot over chytil. It’s fairly simple.

Well, here’s the thing, training camp is only half over, and all three of them are making the team anyway

I think andersson and howden look better. I don’t think chytil can handle being an NhL 2C and I’m not sure if he is a center to be honest and I know he’s not suited for 4C
 
No chance Chytil gets sent down unless he just really struggles so badly the next couple games. No he hasn't been a world beater but you can see him making strides in certain areas notably along the walls where he's been stronger on the puck.
 
I don’t know. I don’t see what you guys see in chytil as a center. He’s a winger. His strengths amplify playing on the wing. His weaknesses playing at center hinder his strengths.

if chytil can't handle center, he'll be moved to wing before he goes to hartford...I think all 3 young centers have shown enough that we will start the year with zibanejad, chytil, andersson and howden down the middle. only question is the order of the bottom 3 and how to make sure that the guy on the 4th line gets enough ice time

I’ve liked Lemieux and Howden together in the past. I think Strome on the right does the job. I’d love for it to be Kravtsov eventually but right now it’s Gotta be Strome.

i think those are the winger combos...just a question of which center is on each line...

on kravtsov, my gut feeling is that he plays in hartford until they are ready to move kakko to the top line and then he moves onto the 2nd line. just a question of whether they try to sell high on buch or if its a kreider trade that opens the spot

We are having a bit of a log-jam here and there is still always a risk non of the kids fill all of our potential needs.

In that scenario, I think many of these guys are pretty good trade chips. Chytil, Howden, Lias, Lemieux, Hajak and all the younger Ds. It’s way to early to point at who might be moved and what the need might be. But we could certainly get to that point eventually.

Seems like the time to move one or two of Skjei/Hajek/Lindgren/Rykov is fast approaching, or else we lose them to Seattle for nothing.
