Just keep Smith as the 13F/7D and start one of the kids in Hartford. Kravtsov looked like he could use some time in the A, so it would work nicely to have him play minutes there and then come back around the deadline.

Smith is going to be the swing man 7th D/ 2nd extra forward this year and next year. That’s all. No reason to dwell on it. He covers 2 roster spots. We’ll carry 22.

23 with a salary cap is a waste anyway imo.

Have to at worst clear namestnikov 4 mil, Strome 3 mil, and Fast 1.85 beleskey money gone 825k and about 2 mil increase in the cap , Gives you roughly 12 mil to work with.

Kreider if he gets 7 mil gets 2.4 of it.(added to his current hit)
Dead money goes up 2 mil to 7.5

Leaves around 8 mil to give Lemieux and DeAngelo raises, replace those other bodies with rookies and perhaps pay some rookie bonuses from this year if need be.

All very doable. Then the following year we’re golden of course

Tonights game is going to be a slaughter lol good thing its just the preseason. Also, is it just me or does chytil look visibly stronger, i think he can hit 40-50 points and id be happy with that

The Rangers sending down Smith saves $1,075,000. They replace him with a $925,000 player. The Rangers save $150,000 in the exchange.

What do the Rangers do with Smith in 20-21?
I suspect they'll try him as a swing man to start the season. See how he goes. 22 man roster with him is a little easier. I don't think he has a long leash though.

Who sits among those 13 forwards?

I'd imagine one of Andersson/Howden starts in the AHL to avoid that issue.
Yeah. Maybe keep Nieves instead of Howden to start the year. Let Howden heat up in Hartford. Don't want to waive Nieves either. Hopefully a trade can materialize in first month or so.

Nice. Always a few years too late, eh? Hopefully the Rangers have sort of their own homegrown stars now.

I did like this pic though, in particular.

Edit: I see Jagr is playing this season. One game, one goal. Savage.

I'd rather move both. I am not a fan, at all, of giving Kreider even a 5 year deal.

I do agree that the team could use a couple of players who relish the dirty work and can dig out pucks. I see that as a bit of a unique skill in this organization overall. In saying that, I feel that Lemieux and Andersson could be those types of guys. Perhaps they are able to make a move for another guy in that mold who can compliment their high skill forwards.

Panarin-Zibanejad-Kakko
______-Chytil-Kravtsov
Lemieux-Andersson-_____
______-______-______

That leaves:
Kreider
Buch
Howden
Fast
Nieves
Strome
Namestnikov

Those are the guys I see as either solid placeholders, trade chips or other.

If we sell at this deadline, I could see the holes filled in by this draft, I also think we have a 4th line with what we already have in the system, and not all of those guys will be dealt ( I think Nieves and Fast will be the 2 forwards exposed for the draft and 2/3rds of our 4th line)

If we end up with a 2 firsts this year, and depending if Chytil establishes himself as a center, I definitely think we can fill that last top 6 spot and I like a guy like Pytlik who has size who can skate who can play all situations and is a righty shot to compliment that third line, but there are going to be alot of choices in this draft so its still early to call

What I don't like about our roster/prospects is the lack of grit/physicality. Kreider likely traded by the deadline. most of our gritty players are either invites that we will release or players that could be picked off waivers when we send them down.

I am probably not saying much, ut of that above list.....seems to me that Buch and Nieves are both in a make or break year for their respective roles. Buch really needs to prove that he is worthy of ANY top6 minutes and has to compliment his line mates, while getting on the scoresheet. His playing without the puck Will be the tell all though. Thats what Quinnie wants from him and was much better 2nd half upon returning from injury.

Howden OTH, seems will be getting every shot in the world to at the very least be a 3c. Whether they decide to move him to the wing would imply that there is at least 1 better suited than he. (Strome?) Imo, 1 of them will be on wing, at least until tdl, where Strome might become a casualty of war.
Has a lot to prove though and can. Set the world on fire first 10 games or so, but dramatically went south, I guess injury had everything to do with that and the proverbial "wall".
I like the kid, if he can handle everything......we will be so much better off moving forward. Has solid 2 way capabilities like Stepan, great head on his shoulders (Stepan) but not fleet afoot. (Stepan), did I make clear I think he resembles......Stepan?
Like the fact he is not afraid to get down and dirty though.

I thought he played well, I don’t understand why this board is always so down on him.

Because this board can’t help itself. It honestly can’t.

There always had to be a guy it shits on and a guy that it elevates well beyond the realm of normal understanding.

In this case there seems to be multiple guys it likes to sell short and guys for whom it usually gives the benefit of the doubt, or day I say, almost coddles.
