Pre-season action can be swift and the sample size is small. But I wouldn't be surprised if Reunanen made a bigger impression than what is expected. Will Hajak outplay Reunanen i pre-season?

Quinn is impressed at Hajek’s performance in camp so far. Hajek has picked up where he left off last season. He looked good in his 5 games before suffering the shoulder injury.

Time will tell.

Yeah, I think the internal competition we have is more than enough to fill the jerseys.

I also think Reunanen might do well in preseason games if played on the right side if TDA remains unsigned.

I am not sure how well that translates, the translation Swedish papers have is even worse. He basically thrashes Little and Maurice completely.

The kid just wants out, you can’t read it any other way. He had it. Laine isn’t dumb, it’s not egoistic comments, he is trying to make himself impossible. They have big issues. It goes beyond money, strong leadership that signed horrible contracts, a GM who threats players extremely bad, a coach who don’t come to work with silk gloves and so forth.

Have said for a while he's going to get dealt. Kid was showing up late to practice and dogging it in games. He rested on the laurels of his first two years in the league. Big mistake. His video game addiction is costing him a lot of money and goodwill around the league.

I agree, but his attitude is definitely not as bad as it seems right now either. Ie he also had a soapmore slump and Winnipeg as a team just hit a wall. Ehlers struggled a ton too. And so forth. My point is just that it’s not like his scoring ran to a halt — only — because he played video games all night and stopped caring.

He shouldn’t be viewed much differently now than he should have been viewed two years ago if you get what I mean.

TDA and Kreider for Laine? ;)

For the money he is going to want I wouldn't touch him with a 10 foot pole. Our Fin is going to be better than Laine. He may even already be better than him in terms of an overall player. Laine's only plus attribute is his shot.

I don’t think he would have any objections against taking 4.5m for a 1 year deal in NY.

But sure, you could make a very strong argument that a pure mass shooter like him never will be worth the bang for the buck.

Interesting glance at who got overpaid/underpaid.

Miller - Trouba
Skjei - Lundkvist/Fox
Hajek/Rykov/Lindgren/Reuanen/Robertson/Jones - Fox/Lundkvist

Say Bye bye to Tony D, Cyclops and The Wedding Crasher
And likely Brady Skjei as well - if 2 guys pan out on the left side
Man we are stacked...Dah um

Not really. Why should Gorton panic and make a stupid move? This team isn’t contending this year. If Tony wants to sit, go ahead.

Gorton should go out and get Tony D wrapped up. He got the working-capital to work with. How much money do you need to manage your cap during the season? By all accounts the offer to TDA is leaving Gorton with a very good margin. Its hard to imagine that the negotiations are about anything other than how much Gorts is going to dip into that. If we bet on surviving a few months with a 21 player roster with Smith as the 13th forward and 7th D -- Gorton can up the offer significantly to TDA. As it is now, Gorton will -- after signing TDA -- have enough room to carry 2 spare forwards and 2 spare Ds, and still have enough money to accrue extra cap space up until the deadline.

TDA is at an extremely important phase of his career. He finished the year as more or less the heads and shoulders top D of this team. He is still young. Many players that miss camp takes a while to get going again, the marginal are small for Ds. We could do some damage long-term to TDA by not signing him in time. Sure we can blame Tony, just take an offer equivalent to the QO. But seriously, Tony isn't in the same position as Lemieux was in nor Pettersson in Pittsburgh or anyone else like that. Tony is also 24 y/o in a few weeks, he isn't still a young kid. Below max ELC is a bit of a hit for him. His play deserves a lot more than that, and especially some kind of sacrifice from Gorton too.

JMHO.

Small potatoes but can we read anything into the fact that O'Regan is slotted above Nieves in tonight's game?
