Blais is rarely healthy for the entire year and thats a problem but he is a better player than people give him credit for. I remember Blues fans saying he was a large part of their cup run. If he stays healthy he will make an impact.
He was! His entire line was a wrecking ball and I don’t care what anyone says in a 7 game series that will wear an opposition down. If he’s healthy he has to be in the lineup for a playoff run

I can see the Rangers being interested in Tkachuk. If Dolan wants him, you know how that goes. Tkachuk is a guy that would sell jerseys, and fits what the Rangers are trying to build. They always found ways to get cap space if needed. I wont be shocked if Drury did his homework here.

Dolan has no idea who he is.

I’d agree with you if they had the space. They don’t

Youre putting a lot of words in my mouth with this post. Lafreniere has shown more in less games than Kakko has, especially as a scorer. You can be mad all you want but based on all the reporting from people around the Rangers, Laf is untouchable and Kakko isnt.

So you are taking your cues from the team then? Makes sense.

That’s the point, Laf really hasn’t shown that much more actually.

i doubt the rangers are even considering tkachuk. it cannot work under the cap and he's not really that good.

I forget his wording, but Staple suggested on a podcast during the season that Nils would prefer to be moved. With the Rangers' recent history with such matters, I would be sweating profusely the moment they assigned him to Hartford.
Rangers will get a 3rd round pick at this point. players that request a trade usually have low trade value

Ah so he’s looking to continue the long standing tradition of the Rangers using a first round pick on a prospect only for them to be traded for scraps or not traded at all cause no one wants them

Good good

I do wonder about the Jones/Lundkvist situation. Both appear ready for 3rd pairing minutes and we only have one spot. Robertson at least is a little behind them. I think it’s a tough pill to swallow for either Jones or Lundkvist to start in Hartford.

I’d probably start Lundkvist in the NHL and if he struggles, call up Jones.

Kreider and Chytil were very effective a couple of years ago when Mika was injured. This just might happen.
There is a sport celebrity golf tournament starting tomorrow here at my course and some guys were in today and played . Josh Anderson played two groups behind us . One of the young gents that works at the Pro Shop is a Ranger fan...and he knows I am and he said he got to chat up Turk earlier in the day when he was around and quizzed him on the new look Rangers....he said Turk was delighted on the moves and that Trocheck would center Panarin and KK and Kravs would battle for the RW spot in camp and the first few games of season . Happy they got Carpenter and he said they are still working on Motte . If I would have talked with him...I would have went a bit deeper on that one . Here is a list of people playing over the 3 days . It was much better 3 years ago before Covid hit . I hope I get to play tomorrow as a fill in if possible . Novus Celebrity Golf Tournament

Grant Clitsome all time great hockey name.

Not that good? He’s a power forward who scored 40+ goals and had over 100 points last season. He’s entering his prime right now.

do we have a Johnny Gaudreau at center to play with him so he can do that again?

The Flames didn’t have one at center either.

JG benefited as much from Tkachuk as Tkachuk did from JG.

Nils at LD would be a disaster.

I'm not too good with faces anymore...but there was one tall guy came right in after us and he was in the Josh Anderson group...tall and bald...I could not place him though...he was definitely a hockey player though LOL....maybe Matteau Jr ? There are some PEI guys that play in the AHL and they are friends with some of these guys from Junior leagues as well . Their friendships bring them together for these tournaments every Summer.....for some it is free golf and a mini vacation on the house .

Just found out the guy was Al Iafrate...geesh...he is in fantastic shape still and ripped !!!

Why? Honestly, I’ve been on the “trade Nils for a young C” bandwagon, but with the addition of Trocheck and Chytil still here, I think Nils is going to be important to have around when we inevitably have to move Trouba, probably next off-season.

If we trade Nils now, we’ll be handing that job to a prospect like skinner or emberson, or paying another older veteran. Nils-Schneider with Jones jumping in here and there, is fine.

Why does everyone hate Nils? I thought he did a fine job while up here, first taste of NA hockey.

Jones is better than Nils, and Robertson might push the two of them out of the way soon mainly because of his size and that he is more suited to a shut down role

After the season it may end up KAM, Jones, Robertson on the left side to make cap room.

Tell me how we can get the 9-10 million of cap space needed to sign him. In this market. Please go ahead tell me.

He can barely handle the puck on his strong side and he has zero escapability. This is an easy way to get him hurt/nuke what ever his value is right now.

He had a really rough season in NA. There’s nothing wrong with admitting it as it happened. Some of the “hate” is coming because he had absurd expectations. A smaller group of us were never big fans to begin with.

Jones is better.

He def had a hard time w the speed of the NHL game... if you're not that big and wanna be a good/great NHL defenseman you better have eyes in the back of your head like Foxy... or a giant brain... like Foxy

I was less than impressed seeing him in person twice but would like to see him given more chances.

That being said I am still in the Young C market and if he's part of the currency then I'm ok w it

I have always backed keeping Kakko and have said I would never move him in a Kane type trade

That said in a Tkachuk trade it makes all the sense in the world. I've said repeatedly we have some good assets that will begin to lose some value not playing or languishing on 3rd lines so if you can do it you do it's and quickly.

The rangers currently have about 5 million open so however you look at it Kakko going to Calgary is on that 5 million then you probably include a Chytll and Jones Gautier 3 of those players account for a little over 8 million right I don't know how Jones contract so I will leave that out.
Chytll 2.6
Kakko 2.5
Gautier 800k
Cap space 2.5
(if Jones and Pajuniemi that's another 1.7)
8.4 total
10.1(if those count maybe someone could let us know or you have to throw in a Reaves which does hurt to say)

so I'd give up these dudes and maybe another if I had to or a 1st rounder 2024 ideally not 2023.

Tkachuk is only 3 years older than Kakko. That's someone you target

I don't think that's how it works. Trading Gauthier, Jones, and Pajuniemi doesn't open up cap room because you need 12 forwards, 6 defensemen, and 2 goalies each game. Hypothetically, if the Rangers wanted to go with a 22 man minimum roster, they'd have to trade Lindgren, Kakko, Chytil, and Reaves to make the cap room. Everyone else other than Igor and Fox with a salary over the $1M has trade protection and doesn't want to go to Calgary.

Kreider/Mika/Laf
Bread/Trocheck/Tkachuk
Othmann/Goodrow/Kravtsov
Cuylle/Carpenter/Hunt

Fox/Schneider
Trouba/Jones
Miller/Lundkvist

Igor
Halak

This would leave you with around $8.3M to offer Tkachuk. Then, next year to keep Laf and Miller you need to convince Trouba to waive his NMC and replace him with a player with a low salary.

There's no way to fit Tkachuk on this roster under the salary cap.
