NHL Ranks
Last 4 seasons - 10th in Even strength points (5th among Centers) -- McDavid, Drai, Matthews, Mack top 4 -- 36 more points than Mika
Last 3 seasons - 10th in Even strength points (5th among Centers) -- McDavid, Drai, Matthews, Mack top 4 -- 27 more points than Mika
Last 2 seasons - 13th in Even srength points (5th among Center) -- McDavid, Drai, Matthews, Mack top 4 -- 17 more points than Mika

So yes, he scores at even strength.

He's a good 5v5 scorer, but the answer to whether he's a good 5v5 player is murkier. I won't dispute the talent, but Schiefle cheats a lot to get his points. Moreover, he gets a boatload of ice time to boot. He's a net negative at even strength.

Plenty of elite scorers are also porous defensively, but they're mostly wingers and they tend to get more than they give up.

Last 4 seasons - 2nd in 5v5 goals against (2nd among Centers) -- McDavid is #1 (With a +34 differential to Schiefle's -4)
Last 3 seasons - 1st in 5v5 goals against (1st among Centers) -- (-6)
Last 2 seasons - 2nd in 5v5 goals against (1st among Centers) -- (-8)

also add someone like scheifele to our top 6 that line wont have to play defense because they'll be in the offensive zone so much.

This is the one concern I can get behind - but I think the Rangers are in a position to solve parts of it.

A. His contract is an absolute steal. He's putting up Mika points - essentially at a minimum.. for cheaper than Kreider...
B. He is not coming here to be the man - like he is for arguments sake as the no doubt 1 C in WPG during their prime years. If you get him you have 2 options - you find solid defense first checking line players to pair with Goodrow on your 3rd line, or you use Mika/Kreider as your matchup lines.

Reactions: Rangers in 7
Deep down inside I'm pondering on the idea or possibility that Chris Drury is as much of a stiff as he's been said to be and he will hold out on his offers, not up his offers, and end up with a whole bag of nothing when the bell chimes. First year GM, first time at the helm nearing deadline, I think with his personality it's a possibility.

Rackell + Hampus Lindholm?

A lot of this hinges on the unnamed other roster player (Chytil? would they want Gauthier?), but that seems quite steep for two rentals. Even moving out Nemeth and Chytil's cap hits I can't see how we could afford an extended Lindholm, and even Rackell's likely extension would take most of our remaining room while still leaving us short on a #2 centre

There's no way the Ducks say no to that package, that would be a steal for them. Perfect team and head coach for a player like Kravtsov. Him and Zegras could be pretty exciting to watch on a line. Ditto with Lundqvist.

I'm not against going for it if those two are the best available, but man could this really blow up in Drury's face if they come here and don't succeed and we get bounced in the first round anyway. Especially if it costs all that PLUS roster players? Nemeth for the cap dump is fine I guess, but who else? Also signing Nemeth just to need to shed his cap is certainly a bad look in and of itself.

Hoping Drury knocks the TDL out of the park, but i'm nervous....

Krav and Nils have to be for cost controlled futures. They ARE cost controlled roster players on ELC and many years of RFA. It's not unreasonable to acquire a cost controlled roster player for Krav/Nils. Likely not going to get a top 6 player at this juncture for Krav but a cost controlled 3rd liner player who may still have more to give should be the goal. I'm okay with holding onto them for summer deals, or hell, even using them when we have depth issues. Last thing we can afford to do is to ship them for a rental like everyone has said.

Rackell + Hampus Lindholm?

This trade proposal actually includes "player to be named." Like, he wrote that in there.

Whoever wrote this is absolutely f***ed in the head.

Edit: Just checked, they guy who wrote that is actually a Rangers fan? What the hell?

Hey, guy who wrote that, I know you lurk here, get a new hobby, you're bad at this one.
