Pass. He can barely move out there anymore. The Rangers need more player that can skate.

His 15 points would be the same as Filip Chytil. Chytil can skate but does he produce much? Nope not at all. Big upgrade over Gauthier, McKegg, Brodzidski

Chytil can be part of the 3rd line solution. If he plays like he has recently since his scratch, you need someone to roll with him and Goodrow.

That line needs a playmaker type. Marcus Johansson could be one of those type of players. Would be on the cheap end too, so you won't be giving up a lot to get him. Just legit NHL depth.

Domi?

I think 3 years at just over $1m will be his price. Well worth it IMO
Well that's where we differ. I think he'll be double that. Reaves came in at $1.75. I see Rooney at $2M+

If he comes in at $1M, he'd be worth it. I just don't see it.

Should have known Drury wouldn't claim him. It's the weekend. Smart move by MTL waiving him on a Saturday. You'd have thought with all the injuries Drury would want to bring in a former stanley cup champion who knows what it takes to win but apparently we're stuck with the Greg McKeggs, Johnny Brodzinskis, and Tim Gettingers of the world.

I definitely like Domi, he might cost more, but it could work. If those are the two forward moves I wouldn't be upset.

This is why I don't get the don't buy crowd. You can buy, send out next to nothing, get legit NHL players and see what happens.

They've got 2 2nds and 2 4ths this year. A pretty deep farm system already. One of the youngest teams in the league.

Feels more like that crowd is also the I told you so crowd. If they lose in the 1st round, or even the 2nd round, it's wasted assets.

I want these young guys to play 90 games this season. See how that feels. Know that your offseason needs to be that much more for what you want to achieve.

On a Rangers team which dresses Hunt, Gauthier and McKegg in their lineup, this team needs help. The last few years have terrible. He was part of TB's Cup winning team in 2020. He has a ring. It was just a thought. He doesn't make much money at $925,000. His contract expires after this season. I don't think anyone will claim him. They will want to send a contract back to Montreal in a trade.

There will be players traded in the next week to fill out bottom six roles who won't be much better.
This.

Watch for a 1-1 trade with Montreal. Send back a contract.

The Rangers are at 45 contracts. They may plan on signing a couple of NCAA UFA's. Every contract spot counts. Paquette will be dealt to a team for a contract of little consequence to a team making a push.

Namestnikov does more for the Rangers than Stepan. Affordable and a great skater. Would go a long way to pull the 3rd line together. Cheaper than Lehkonen.

Goodrow-Namestnikov-Chytil (Or Namestnikov-Goodrow-Chytil) has grit, skating ability, size. Pretty much the only thing it lacks is creativity. When that line is out there Fox Miller and Schneider should provide some of the offensive innovation.

Would anyone do Zack Kassian, Ryan McLeod and Dylan Holloway to Rangers for Lundkvist, Georgiev, Chytil, Kravtsov

Kreider Mika Lafy
Panarin Strome Kassian (Kakko here when healthy)
Gauthier (Blais here when healthy Goodrow Kakko
Hunt McLeod Reaves

Blais Goodrow Kassian would be a good line to have in the playoffs. Physical, tough, has skill, can wear the opposition down and draw penalties.

Is Jack McBain a plug in and play player that is ready to step in right now? He is probably the best acquisition the Rangers can make this deadline if so. They get help this year and for the next two seasons if so. There's your 3rd line center if he's ready.

Hey! I was able to sign in finally! McBain was a big pile of meh for three years and then exploded this season. Fluke? Or has he figured it out and this is the player he will be going forward? I have no idea. Could be worth a 2nd to find out but someone more knowledgeable than me might have more light to shed on the topic.

If our deadline consisted of trading both of our 2nds - one for Copp and one for McBain, I'd be pretty content.

The difference is that Stepan is 31 and trending in the wrong direction. Chytil is 22 and still has upside.

The small mind is thinking that I’m reading online and here and from writers and bloggers shows why we only have one cup in 77 years or 80 whatever

This team needs 3 to 4 players…
A backup goalie a defenseman and two puck possession forwards….

Stop this nonsense with a mckegg & hunt and Tim Rooney and Nemeth -
These guys are toilet fodder …

Upgrade or lose early …. If we make it.

Assuming this kid can step in immediately, the chances of Gallant giving him a shot at 3C/to play much at all is slim

Barron is our prospect and he can’t get a prolonged look on the 4th line

I think he's getting heavily overrated because he's easy to hype as a soon-to-be college free agent, and I think Friedman/Marek speculated that it's likely that he'll end up with WPG anyways. IIRC, Friedman said the cost for his rights is a second round pick, and WPG didn't have a second round pick yet. His dad played half his career in WPG.
