I'm skeptical that Martinez is actually an upgrade at this point in his career. Dude is getting caved.

I mean he is also play for the Hawks. But I would rather have a defensive guy like Soucy/Hague/Etc, but if all we could get was Martinez? I'd still explore it. I just feel like we have to move Holl if were heading into the Playoffs. Just upgrade the defense and then move and replace Tarasenko.

As do I. I am not presuming, however, that Holl or Chiarot are even here next season. As long as we aren't giving up a ton for the player, I am down for something that specifically improves the third pair. I don't think improving the bottom pair and targeting a better, top 4 option over the offseason are mutually exclusive.

Not saying I want either of those, but what a player does on another team lots of times as no bearing on what they do on another, especially when playoffs are involved. Something is off with that whole team as pretty much everyone is doing bad or not great and far off what they did last year. Nyquist for example had 75 pts last year and he is nowhere near that this year.

Does he play his offside at all? If he were a LD I'd totally agree but he'd automatically be 2nd pair here if he can only play RD. I kind of feel like we dumped Hronek cause we didn't want to pay 7+ mil for a 2nd RD.

5 years seems a little long to me as well. 3 years and I think Yzerman would 100% be in even with ASP coming.

Worst case scenario takes pellikka 1 year in ahl +2 in the 3rd pair to ease into the league that's 2 years of jones at 9.5 on the 3rd pair lol ouch

I'd be shocked. 3 years left would been perfect. 5? At 9.5 that's seems steep and I doubt hawks retain alot. What would the cost be??

Maybe hawks retain 1-1.25 ... I'd get another team involved to slash another 1 mill per for a 3rd
