I know it won’t happen but one player id like to see moved is Strome. He is a better than average player but he plays too small. He just doesn’t fit right. He’s not enough of a scorer or puck hound to play in the top six. And I’d much prefer Goodrow types in the bottom six. I don’t hate Strome like many so, but he’s just not a fit. And he’s too expensive for a guy doesn’t check many boxes.

With what?

You know they are talking about Cedric Paquette right? The same Cedric Paquette who has a whole 3 goals and 6 assists over his last 62 games?
On a Rangers team which dresses Hunt, Gauthier and McKegg in their lineup, this team needs help. The last few years have terrible. He was part of TB's Cup winning team in 2020. He has a ring. It was just a thought. He doesn't make much money at $925,000. His contract expires after this season. I don't think anyone will claim him. They will want to send a contract back to Montreal in a trade.

There will be players traded in the next week to fill out bottom six roles who won't be much better.

Brooks floats Schleife and Horvat as possible Strome replacements.

I wouldn’t want either. Way too expensive and neither makes overly much sense on the ice from my POV.

One player that intrigues me a lot is Alex Newhook. He would come anything but cheap and would probably cost pretty much fairly fast. But he fits the bill for what we need as a team.

Why would Colorado deal him? It’s of course not likely that they will. But the Avs does have a tendency to be too optimistic on the ice, playing with too much flair. If they could add someone they feel will put them over the top, Newhook is probably the one asset they have to move.

But OTOH we don’t have that asset, so it’s probably a mute point.

even getting depth like Jarnkrok and Johansson Will Atleast get Barron and Gettinger back to the AHL and leave McKegg and Brodzinski to spare until Kakko and Rooney return

I think it’s a good idea. If he clears, I’d consider moving someone like Reunanen or Gettingee for him. Paquette is a PIA to play against. He may just fit in well in NY

Johnny Brodzinski, if he can maintain this level of play, may be carving out a nice bottom-6 role for himself here in NY for the next couple of seasons. His speed and tenacity on the puck are reminiscent of guys like Coleman and Gourde (not saying he is at their level obviously) so he may be a nice, cheap solution to augment someone like Goodrow. And he’s signed for 2 more seasons at a very low cap hit.

I agree. I was thinking last night that he looks like one of those guys that we give up on that ends up turning into a middle 6 player somewhere else. He’s clearly an NHL player to me.

No ouch.

@Edge has a lot more things to do in his free time than generate the nonsense your average NYR Twitter “insider” posts on a daily or weekly basis.

And this is after his 2+ decades of sharing what’s he’s heard with us. What he shares with us is legit.
Bud, it was sarcasm…..breathe

Just saw an article recommending lindholm and rakell for kravtsov, Nils and a conditional 2nd that becomes a 1st if we reach the finals

That’s something I’d do

Not for me

Nils is too good to trade for a straight up rental(s)

If they move him it’s gotta be for something long term and preferably cost controlled

You'd give up all of that for 2 rentals?
I’d like to keep rakell, I know like 2 weeks ago I said no but I’m warming to the idea

Kravtsov will never play for us unfortunately

I think Lindgren is getting exposed on the top pair

The guy I really want is chyrchrun but if that can’t be done I’d take lindholm who is an upgrade over lindgren

You might want to keep Rakell now, but we've yet to seem him in a Rangers uniform. What if he doesn't fit in? Also, he's making 3.8 mil this year and as a UFA, will be looking for a raise. Maybe he won't get one given his numbers, but it isn't going to be a cheap contract regardless. If we are re-signing him, where is the cap space coming from for a 2C? And if he is on the team, where is he playing? In the top 6 ahead of one of Kakko or Laf?

Kravtsov will likely never play for us again, but he still has a lot of long term potential. Trading him for a rental is not a good investment.

If Lindgren is getting exposed and we need someone better to push him and Miller down, how is Lindholm the answer when we can't afford to re-sign him?

With this deal, you're giving away 3 quality assets, with nothing to show for it next season.

Anyone know how bad Chyrchrun injury is?

Maybe LA comes calling for Nils.
One has nothing to do with the other. Chychrun is an established player who can help them now and in the future. Nils has a good future ahead of him, but likely won't help them all that much, if at all, right now.

Drury has so much work to do with this roster. He needs to acquire three centers to lineup behind Zibanejad. I agree with you about the options not being great. Schiefele's game is declining. He will get his points but he is not the same player he was a few years ago and he isn’t an old guy. Winnipeg will want a ton for him and he isn’t worth the asking price. Horvat has been better this season. Vancouver will probably keep him and move their other players.

Hertl? He will get $8M minimum. How are the Rangers paying him and filling the other pieces on this team? Vegas traded Brannstrom and a 2nd to Ottawa for Stone. Vegas signed Stone to a contract immediately. $9.5M AAV. The Rangers could remove Chytil and Nemeth from their cap and still have a difficult time putting a contending team on the ice with their current commitments and future commitments with Hertl at $8M.

I like Phil Tomasino in Nashville. He is a first year player. Nashville has him playing on the 4th line on the right side. He is a natural center. Former 1st round pick in 2019.

Dylan Holloway in Edmonton. He suffered a serious wrist/hand injury last season. The bone has healed but he has still some discomfort. The tendons and muscles haven't completely healed. He is playing on the wing because his hand isn't strong enough to take face-offs. I heard him discuss his injury on Friday.

This team is stuck.

The Rangers are going to need players like Brodzinski to be valuable bottom 6 forwards.

I think you look to keep Rooney and run a 4th line next season of Reaves - Rooney - Brodzinski with Hunt as the 13th forward. Keep McKegg around as 14th forward.

Try to acquire Lehkonen and possibly move Chytil. Third line of Lehkonen - Goodrow - XXXX.

Or may be give Barron a shot at 3C and have a 3rd line of Lehkonen - Barron - Goodrow.

Or if the cap situation would work keeping Chytil while either resigning Strome or an equivalent 2C. Lehkonen - Goodrow - Chytil.

I think that would be a very solid bottom 6 of a contender.
