I’m not adding to Kakko to get Kirby ****** Dach. People rip Drury but would actually do this? Come on.
I was talking about adding to Nils Lundkvist. I’m not giving up Kakko for Dach under any circumstances, unless the circumstance is that Chicago first acquired Nathan MacKinnon and is adding him in the deal for Kakko too.

I don't think he'll be back. He just doesn't fit. If he's in the top 6, then one of Kakko/Laf isn't. We have other options for the 3rd line (Blais, Kravtsov, Goodrow). Let the kids show what they can do in a bigger role, and use that money elsewhere.
I agree, I want the kids in big spots and I don't want anyone else blocking them.

I'd like to see Kravtsov on the team as well. And I want to see Othmann in camp. I don't see where Vatrano fits, unless it's 4th line. But, like you said there will be cheaper options for the 4th line.

Lundkvist for Dach kinda makes sense but not sure Chicago does that

Panarin needs to grow up and figure out how to play the right side without sulking.
Kreider - Zibby - Kakko
Laffy - Chytil - Panarin
Blais - Goodrow - Kravtsov
Reaves - _____ - ______

Yea well he’s not lol
Laf will have to learn RW

No way I’m having Chytil 2C just sign Copp back

I can live w Blais , Rydahl/Brodzinski, Reaves/Hunt on the 4th line just add at the deadline

No way of knowing what Chris Drury and his staff’s opinion is of Florida’s Center, Anton Lundell but if there ever was a remote chance of getting him in a trade I think this would be the year.
Florida is and has been in win now mode. Their organization needs revenue by keeping fans in the seats so I’m guessing Zito is is desperate for the Panthers to take that next step in the 2022/23 season.
The only way I could see it happen is if Drury includies Ryan (Conn Smythe) Lindgren in the deal. Lindgren has proven that he inspires his teammates to do whatever it takes to win, something the Panthers lack.
As much as I would miss Ryan, I don’t believe his frame can support his style of play year over year. Lundell is exactly the two-way Center this team needs to go along with Zibanejad and Chytil.

Right, he isn't a "4th liner", but I think if you're putting together your optimal lineup on paper he's you're 4C/1PK unit guy. Move him up later in games to protect leads.

I mean, he's the type of guy who can play anywhere in a line-up that is true, but the idea that a player like Goodrow is a 4th liner just isn't accurate. People said the same thing about Fast. It wasn't true about him either.

As far as the cap for 23-24, don't be surprised if Goodrow is off the team one way or another. the Rangers actually get a small cap credit the first two years if they bought him out after next season. I don't anticipate that would happen but it's a possibility. When push comes to shove paying almost 4M for a 4th line forward when you are in a cap crunch becomes an issue.
Maybe? At 50% retained at the TDL to a playoff team, could bring back a haul.

I like Copp and would want him at the right price but we also have to be wary of the sunk cost fallacy.

Those picks aren't coming back to us whether he signs here or not. If he signs at less than market value that's one thing, but we have no evidence to indicate that is the case.

Not signing either Copp or Strome leaves a big hole in the lineup, but also leaves us a lot more flexibility in terms of not having to move Trouba or Kreider (Who are better contributors than Strome or Copp) until 2024.

The question is whether we can get a Vinny Prospal-esque bargain bin signing at Center. Stastny is going to get a solid paycheck on a short term deal, which might price him out of our range.

Zibby-Chytil-Goodrow-4C is also an option, though not a good one. Goodrow should either start the season as a 3rd line wing or 4th line center and move up as injuries occur.

eh just for fun

Sign Stastny for 2 years at 3 mill per

Lundkvist and a 3rd for Nic Roy (this might be off)

Don't know what Sissons would command but it might be low?

Lafreniere-Zibanejad-Chytil
Kreider-Roy-Kakko
Panarin-Stastny-Kravtsov
Blais-Goodrow-Sissons

3rd line might be a bit dumb since no one would should but I like it. still quite a slow team though.

Due to handing out NMCs like candy, I hope the Rangers enjoy having overpaid RD and LW at positions they have prospects at out the wazoo, while not even being able to afford a 2C.

Yeah I think we have to pass on either Copp or Strome the more I think about it.

Just roll with Chytil and the kids. More and more kids. Trade Lundkvist for an ELC center. Bring up Othmann, Cuylle. Go, go, go.

Nic Roy and Puljujarvi should both be looked into.

From one perspective we have so many young wingers already looking for ice time and what not, but its hard to deny that Puljujärvi's RHS and style would be a solid fit on the right of Panarin.

100% agree. Look to had more kids with potential at center, look for guys in the same position Strome was when we first got him, and so forth.

Lol, from a Torts player no less.

Could be a few Flyers players calling their agents in the next couple of days?
Anyone their that fits our team and budget?

I am sure @RangerBoy got a better recollection of this than I do, but anyone remember how Brooks had quite a few anonymous reports from the Columbus locker room the first years after Torts went there? Torts did this and that, Torts said whatever. It seemed so obvious that those reports were coming from Dubinsky so I always wondered how that worked out, if he wasn't afraid from retribution from Torts or whatever.

Dubinsky was always a special person. He were involved with some incidents in junior. Think he beat up a teammate pretty bad in the lockerroom.

Anyone putting forth a proposal that keeps Copp needs to explain what they’ll do in 2023-2024. It just doesn’t work with the Laf and Miller contracts coming up. It’s going to be a 10M+ increase with those two. Signing Copp is so short-sighted and pretty much impossible unless you’re moving Lindgren + trading multiple kids in the lineup like Kakko and Chytil.

The 2C answer needs to be a hockey trade for a lower cost kid with upside.
I love Lindgren but I am not against moving him.

His value will likely never be higher than it is now. He will not have a long career

Depending on what they do this summer, if they do need cap space next summer for the RFA extensions, Laff, Miller, Chytil, Krav, I think they'll try to either trade or buyout Goodrow before they trade Lindgren, yet they may need to do both, unless a player(s) are willing to waive their clauses.

1. The joys of reaching Cup contention a year or two ahead of schedule.

2. The days of adding kids is over. Gallant will demand more vets where he can. The window is NOW.

3. Getting Panarin back in playoff shape will be priority #1 this offseason for the FO. Chytil deserves to build on his excellent post season, but I don't think he fits with Panarin. The club will be on the lookout for a very strong two way C to play with Panarin on the 2nd line. They were very serious in their pursuit of JT Miller, I don't think that interest has gone anywhere.

I believe the goal is to have two windows.

Don't see Drury deciding to rebuild again when Fox is 27, Lafreniere 23, Miller 24, and Shesterkin 30.

That's a lot of potential star power in their prime, and that's before we think about what Chytil, Kakko, Schneider, Jones, Kravtsov become.

Motte Goodrow Blais is a <chef kiss> 4th line.

What's going to happen in the middle 6?

Chytil - Stastny
or
Copp - Chytil

Like that’s ever been an issue, people think NTC’s are the boogie man lol

So you have Chris Kreider, who just scored 50 goals, on a team he's played for for 11 years, for an organization he's been a part of for 14 years, who just made it into the ECF and he's waiving his NTC to uproot his life and do the team a favor...why exactly? He still has a 15 team NTC the years after so they can't just send him anywhere and whose to say the even need the space then.

Or you have Jacob Trouba, who wanted to come here, immediately signed a long term deal, is an important player on a successful team and once again...why is he waiving the clause when he gave up some salary in order to get it?

Both players are leaders in the room, wear an A, and were in the hunt to possibly wear the C. So what is their incentive for waiving? Because we need cap space and want them to? This is not like Claude Giroux waiving on a bad team with an expiring contract.

Maybe they will but to just assume it's easy is nonsense. And I'm one who never really thought NTC mattered much since players usually let the deals go through but there is a huge difference in someone waiving who hasn't been on a team forever or isn't on a team that is a cup contender and someone in these guys spots.
