None of the three are really good offensive players. Coleman and Goodrow had the same number of points this year.

They were a "sum of their parts" line that had chemistry, I'll buy that, but I don't buy the narrative that Goodrow was a passenger to two great players. They're all third liners except maybe Gourde.

Gourde was 186th this year in p/60. That's barely ahead of Frank Vatrano. It's half a goal per 60 behind Ryan Strome. He's not that good.
I agree, I don't think it was Gourde, Coleman........and Goodrow. They just clicked together.

Also, they had a total freakshow in their top 6. Still do.

Be advised: I was just informed via Instagram (by way of the NYR account) that it's Keggers birthday today.

Has anyone else had a bad feeling about today before knowing this and/or also noticed an uptick in their depression?

Lol Zegras....

He'll be a great hometown Ranger when we go for our 3rd cup in like a decade.

I believe the goal is to have two windows.

Don't see Drury deciding to rebuild again when Fox is 27, Lafreniere 23, Miller 24, and Shesterkin 30.

That's a lot of potential star power in their prime, and that's before we think about what Chytil, Kakko, Schneider, Jones, Kravtsov become.
I'm not disagreeing with two windows. I just don't think the FO + Gallant see it like that. The Rangers are a huge franchise. The focus, especially after this run, is 97% win now and 3% next window (again not literal numbers for you literal folks). This is the "Panarin + Igor" window, he's the Big Star selling the most shirts + the Igor contract factor. The problem with kids, as we see with Laf, Chytil, Miller, Kakko is that it takes years for them to get up to speed with the details of the pro game and their individual game, regardless of basic talent. Also the physical strength is not quite there.

Gallant wants brawn and a heavy game in the playoffs. That's why the stock up on fresh kids in the line up approach is out the window. Look at what Tampa is doing bringing in quality depth veterans every year as their turnover, they don't stack up on kids. That's what will happen from now on. It's the fact that the Rangers have such depth with young quality talent that enables the idea of two windows, but the first window will have to be taken care of first.

Joking aside, it was neither the fault of Stu Bickel or Greg McKegg that they're mid tier AHL level players who get thrown in over their head too often.

Well, they apparently get guys to do it although you're right that Trouba might not be in that age cohort.

We have a forward who will be and has a very believable history of injuries.

If you mean Zibanejad, I think you may be right

Anyone putting forth a proposal that keeps Copp needs to explain what they’ll do in 2023-2024. It just doesn’t work with the Laf and Miller contracts coming up. It’s going to be a 10M+ increase with those two. Signing Copp is so short-sighted and pretty much impossible unless you’re moving Lindgren + trading multiple kids in the lineup like Kakko and Chytil.

The 2C answer needs to be a hockey trade for a lower cost kid with upside.
OR a stop gap free agent than can be signed to a low cost 1 year deal. This is why I'm warming up to the idea of signing Stasny.

I really like the Nic Roy idea but is that actually a feasible move? Why would Vegas trade him?
They've got multiple RFAs to sign, guys like Patrick and Brossoit are no longer going to be on IR and should be ready to play in 2022, and they've got 9 forwards signed. They'll be significantly over the cap signing all of those players are filling out a roster. They have to make a move to relieve that pressure

Roy is a center, when they have Eichel, Karlsson, and Stephenson. He can play wing, but you can get a lot of value coming back if you move him, and you could get some ELC players on top of that.

They might just walk away from Nolan Patrick.

Why would nyr give up kakko for Kane? Haven’t we been through this enough in the past? It never works out and we won’t be able to afford Kane after next year. Let kakko keep developing. You don’t build a competitive team for years if you keep trading youth for aging vets that won’t be here for years. If I was drury I’d try to move lundkvist for a similar age C with similar upside. Maybe let the kid cook for a year and sign a stop gap C for a year or 2

Some people never learn.

Like Brodzinski, he has an infectious work ethic. no way to hate him like some do... he's an extra body with solid PK movement... sometimes... the higher ups seem to like him... w/e.

I love Lindgren but I am not against moving him.

His value will likely never be higher than it is now. He will not have a long career

Moving Lindgren is not enough to keep Copp in 2023-2024. Who else are you moving of Lafreniere, Miller, Kakko, and Chytil to make room for Copp?

The fact that Rangers management thought of these players as NHL talent really shows how bad the pro scouting is here. Same with Nemeth and Rooney

I was watching the Warriors last night. They foul every defensive possession and travel every offensive possession. Four rings.

This is why I stopped watching basketball years ago. Fouling at the end of the game usually rewards the team doing it. I just can't stand it.

Miller and Laf don't have arbitration rights. Their contracts do not have to be huge.

I guess they could waive to terminate the contract, but he has 1 year left. Don't think his career is over, but maybe they just flip him somewhere else. Hard to think they would since they moved Glass for him. Also he has all kinds of connections to the front office, so I doubt they abandon it after one year.

On Nic Roy, I am not saying that he can’t be a good important player, but we just cannot keep spending money on the type of players that you “easily” can pick up at league minimum.

What is Tampa paying for their size? Maroon? 1m. Perry? 1m. Nic Paul? 1.3m and they traded a 4th round pick for him and a B tier prospect. Then you have Killorn.

We are already paying way to much for Goodrow. Goodrow makes more than Perry, Maroon and Paul combined.

Antony Cirelli killed our 1st line. Yanni Gourde killed all 1st lines the two years before that.

Guys like Coleman and Goodrow and dime on a dozen players, if they could kill 1st lines no 1st line would score in this league. It’s the guys like Cirelli and Gourde that you have to pay through the nose to get. Paying money for the Coleman and Goodrow’s of the world isn’t smart.

Roy is much better than a "league minimum" player. He put up 40 points for a non playoff team last year without getting much (if any at all) Powerplay time. He is also only 25 years old
