Hagel has 11 points in 36 games as a Bolt. I guess thinking he'd be a 25-30 point player in that role was in fact not out of line.
Hagel only put up decent points because he was playing on a really bad Blackhawks team. TB paid a lot for him because of his low cap hit and the term he had left on his deal. They tried recreating that third line they had with Goodrow, Gourde and Coleman. Sure he might be a bit banged up but he hasn't produced offensively which is good for us.

Who will be the cheap Vatrano/Motte types available next year? Can we look into trading Lundkvist for a Hagel type?

Lundkvist should only be liquidated, if in fact he ends up so, for a young center with top 6 upside.

No other reason to trade him.

Georgiev is an RFA, if he cannot be traded you let him walk as a UFA. Nemeth might be a bit tricky to trade but he can go to a team like Arizona who needs players and needs to get to the cap floor. Gauthier can be your 13th forward, Hajek needs to just be put on waivers if he cannot be traded. Reaves won't be sent down, as long as Gallant is here he will find a spot for Reaves. Hunt is nothing special, he can go on waivers and go down to the AHL if needed. The team will be tight against the cap and might only be able to carry one extra player instead of the normal 2 or 3. Kravtsov being on the team can solve some depth issues on RW for sure.

I'd prefer to get picks for Hajek and Gauthier if possible. They are spares for any roster we ice moving forward, yet they are young kids who may still have a whiff of value around the league, and what's more, for their own benefit, they aren't helped by riding the pine for weeks on end.

Guys who don't need the reps like Hunt are the best 13th forwards.

I am listening to the LA Kings podcast with John Hoven and Dennis Bernstein. They don't see the Kings giving Lias Andersson a qualifying offer. The Kings don't have room for him. Hoven made an argument for trading Sean Durzi in the package to Arizona for Jacob Chychrun. The Kings have other RD prospects in the organization(Clarke and Faber) with higher ceilings and the Kings should trade Durzi when his value is high. Alex Turcotte, Gabe Villardi and two first round picks to Arizona for Chychrun was a trade rumor they discussed but Turcotte's value is down with the concussions. That trade has to be reworked. The Kings need a first line LW who is a playmaker and LHD who can play in the top 4.

When will then be now?

Sooooonnnnn.
Pretty sure he can't play during the playoffs because the expanded rosters are locked. But I'm curious if this news means that he is intending on playing for NY come the fall...or if he is still at odds with the team and wants to be dealt.

Based out of all reports, there are no odds or ill will. Drury has been in contact with him the whole season and they had previously discussed him coming to NA very early this summer to prepare.

He’s ready for the NHL.

Call me an abused Ranger fan, because I will remain skeptical of Kravtsov’s future with the club until I see him in an actual Rangers jersey, and even then I will suspect the Rangers are just showcasing him for a trade.

I'm hoping for the former, but not ruling out the latter. We could certainly use more cost controlled skill players in the pipeline...particularly on offense.

You are gonna have to bridge some people but the more long term deals you can get to players to who end up outperforming them, the better off you are, and so that should be the goal even at the expense of maybe bringing back an older veteran.

He’s coming back to NY baby!!!
Yes but you don't think EVERY young player looks at the Matthews, fox, makar 2nd contracts and then also look at the MacKinnon one and see the long term deals and how they worked out? Any young player with upside will take a bridge if the team isn't willing to pay them based on their potential long term. The same reason you want the team to get those deals signed is the reason that players and agents don't want to sign them, and you can't force a player to sign a contract, especially players that other teams may want to tempt with offer sheets...

I think EdJova posted an Instagram of Kravtsov recently saying he was in NY. And then Drury was also in NY, because he made that seemingly random press conference appearance, remember? I think the two camps met.

McLeod is one of the reasons I think Holloway might (might) be available. Holloway’s contract also matches up with Nils.

Holloway for Nils is a trade i would be open to. I havent seen much of him lately. How has he progressed? I just put the game on.

I really like Nils but getting someone like Holloway for Nils and Geo;s rights could be a nice trade.

I'd take McLeod from them... I don't know how they value him

Danault... funny enough
Devils and Rangers matchup.. McLeod on the faceoff Rangers McLeod wins it

Sam,: Yes they are related, they are brothers.
Joe: I don’t think they look similar
Sam: I said brothers, not twins
Joe: okay Sam
I can see it now 😂

McLeod and Halloway to Rangers
Lundkvist, Robertson, Nemeth (Rangers pay 20% cap hit), Georgiev RFA to Oilers

And that “info” is as as obvious as the nose on my face.

So then why, when I suggest the obvious, that Trouba is going to be approached about waiving before his NMC converts to a NTC in 2024, do you continue to insist it's not possible?

It's not likely. It is possible.

There are good deals out there though, look at Rantanen.

Not every player breaks the bank.

I agree you almost always have to overpay from current market rates to lock up a young player to a long term deal, but that doesn't mean it's Matthews money.

The real trouble with a guy like Kakko is that based on his offensive numbers, you really don't want to give him a long term overpayment, but he retains so much upside that personally he has no reason to lock in to a 4-6 year deal without getting big, big dollars.

He's not going to get Zibanejad money, but he's not going to sign 5 years for $4M either.

To get him to sign a long term deal you probably have to go $6m a year.

Panarin Zibs Kreider
Laffy Chytil Kakko
Blais Copp Kravtsov
Motte Goodrow Reavo/Hunt

IMO that's the lineup. More than enough depth.
Copp can slot up if someone gets hurt.
Kravtsov can slot up if someone gets hurt.
Goodrow Motte leading us defensively.
Blais adding physicality.
Kid line continues to grow into a big problem for the league.
Panarin plays with an actual 1C and a winger that creates a lot of space for him. Get back to ES domination

Lindgren Fox
KAM Trouba
Jones Schneider

add a puck mover.
KAM, Lindgren, Schneider and Foxy continue to develop and improve as crazy as that sounds.
Trouba Train

I also think a guy like Cuylle makes the team. He gives me the same exact vibes of KAM. He fits Gallant's MO. He dazzled in training camp this past year. He's gotten better. He will be playing for the New York Rangers at some point next season....
Sign me up. Heckuva team there

The solution is Kreider or Trouba will go. It’s also possible a couple young players would prefer 1 year deals prior to the big jump in the cap the year after.

I think people are overthinking this. Copp makes this team better no matter where he is. The team lacks options at center AND should they find one by luck he can roll over to wing easily.

Take next year to evaluate all of the young players and then look at what’s needed and available.
After 2023 trouba will only have 3 years left with a $8 mill cap hit but $20 mill owed over those 3 years. Would be a good snag for a cap floor team.

What can we get for Georgiev and Nemeth package to Edmonton Calgary or Colorado?

The team is going to look largely the same next year. None of the NMC guys are moving and Drury did well to get the Igor, Fox & Zibanejad contracts done before the season. Imagine the contract Mika would be looking for now? 10M AAV at least.

Id like to see them retain Copp & Motte, but the contracts need to make sense. I think this playoffs have shown that the kids (Miller/Laf/Chytil/Kakko) are all core pieces now, and the organization needs to be cognizant of giving long-term deals to veterans that could limit their ability to retain that group.

So then why, when I suggest the obvious, that Trouba is going to be approached about waiving before his NMC converts to a NTC in 2024, do you continue to insist it's not possible?

It's not likely. It is possible.

There’s a big difference between CONSIDERING your options and EXERCISING them. I believe the Rangers will do the former and not the latter before his NMC expires.
