I'm not willing to bet on chytil continuing this into next year without the right backup. Players go on streaks like this. If chytil continues it than great, but I'm not betting the house on it and then looking for a center halfway through next season.

The best outcome is if we can get Copp for a moveable contract that you can live with for a 3C.

Still think if they are looking to move Lundkvist for something of value, it is for a draft selection in return.

Arizona is the easiest landing spot for him. The Coyotes have 7 picks in the first two rounds of this draft. This includes picks 27, 32 (currently based on Avs), 34, 36, 43, and 45. On top of that, the Coyotes don't have tons of players either way. Their system is fairly weak. They could make all those selections and be fine, or they could accelerate that and move on of those picks from 27 through 36 to get a puck moving RHD that would not be blocked from playing in the NHL.

Of course they aren't under pressure to do much right now since they are working on their arena deal and basically know that the organization prior was a complete clusterf***. I just see them as the most likely candidate to make this move.

I'm just more hesitant on moving Nils now since the team is entering a new window to cup contending, and he could either be more valuable at the trade deadline for a needed piece, or as a player that they need as depth.

The Rangers shouldnt trade Nils just for the hell of it. Let him play on a hopefully pretty good Hartford team next year with the influx of prospects coming in. He will be a major chip at the deadline. I will say I think the Rangers see Robertson as the guy with the long-term future here.

I would not be the least bit shocked if the NYR defense stays largely the same (and why wouldn't it), that Nils refuses to report to Hartford and/or openly requests a trade.

He's been a good soldier but he's not going to be patient indefinitely.

Have to try to extract the most value possible this summer, IMO.

Indefinitely? He was the 28th overall pick and has already played more NHL games than all but 3 players drafted between 24 and 37 in his draft. Should those twelve other guys be demanding trades too?

Do we have a huge influx of prospects next year into hartford? I thought the biggest one is just cuylle?
I think the 2023-24 hfd class will be big, but not 22-23

I would love to see Mika and Panarin playing together next season. Mika and Panarin are made for each other but we needed to split them up for depth purposes. I don't think that's an issue anymore. I would love to have a second line centered around Kakko that is going to pin guys and cycle on their defenders night in and night out and just grind teams down. I want other team's top lines to hate having to play against Kakko.

Panarin Zibs Kreider
Laffy Chytil Kakko
Cuylle Copp Blais
Motte Goodrow Reaves/Hunt

Goodrow could slot up to 3LW and have a guy like Rydahl get the 4C spot

I don't know why though, I'm really, really bullish on Cuylle making the team out of camp. He fits Gallant's mold.

I don't know where Kravtsov fits in tbh

Krav line 1. Panarin with Copp on line 3. But treat all 3 lines the same with minutes. We are gonna become a team that plays a lot of extra hockey. Good idea to not give any of the top 9 too much ice time.

Kravtsov fits on the 3rd line becasue Cuylle is not NHL ready. Cuylle will enjoy 18-19 minutes a night in HFD for a season.

Look at the pipeline of prospects that are coming. Beyond Chytil, there isn't a single even decent center prospect in the system. The Rangers traded Barron who projects as a bottom-6 center for Copp and appear willing to move on from Strome. Copp is a fairly important re-sign for this team for the next 3-4 years. There are pathways to creating cap space as needed beyond next year that can be pursued at positions where the organization appears to have better depth (defense or wing)

Rangers can’t afford even one of Copp or Strome anymore. What a drastic turn of events the last month and a half. Lafreniere and Miller have destroyed the idea of it. Need $ to sign those two as long as you can next summer. Chytil also presenting a problem. Not even considering what they do with Kakko. These are great problems to have.

People keep forgetting that the summer of ‘23 is going to be a significant problem when it comes to this team’s cap situation. The situation then needs to be a primary consideration for any contract signed over the next three months.

It’s an interesting problem. Does management keep the pedal to the metal next season, given that this roster made it to the ECF in 2021-22? Or do they take their foot off the gas for one season, and focus on 2023-24?

Brind'Amour on DeAngelo during yesterday's presser:

"The offensive ability is there, but it's actually his defense was great as well. It wasn't an issue. You know, I think the most important thing to realize to me is what he means to the group and the locker room, and they all appreciate who he is, how he is and what he does.

God I am glad Davidson went with Gorton.

People should be buying jerseys with Dolan stitched on the back, MVP for this franchise of the decade.

If you had a choice this offseason, trocheck or copp?
Copp

The team needs centers, bad. Mika is not going to be the 1C for forever. And there’s nothing else.

I can get behind this. It’s a short term hit but forces them to go young too 6 center hunting with their remaining trade assets.

Maybe Rod Brind’Amor knows more than this board does.

You are obsessed with centers. I understand it. I am inclined to feel the same way.

That said, I think it’s bankable that Mika will be the 1C for the majority of his contract. The team really only needs to be looking for middle six, two way centers with the strength they have on the wings. Even if they find the next superstar C, they won’t be able to pay him.

These middle six players can be found in FA or in trades. It’s ok, and probably preferable, if they’re already 23-25 years old.

Copp is a must sign. He and Panarin compliment each other really well. I think Kakko or Othmann are their right winger next year. I just don't see Kravtsov there or on this team next year for that matter.

Motte is a must sign too. Pay him market value to kill penalties so Kreider and Zibanejad don't get worn out having to do it. Don't make the same mistake that was made with Fast. If the difference is 500K per year for a 3 or 4 year deal, meet in the middle and make it work.

Shoot Nemeth into the sun and bridge Kakko and go into the year with mostly the same team. See if Braun will come back on a one year deal under a million. Ideal 6th/7th defenseman.

Nemeth and Kravtsov to ARZ for pick #36.

Bridge Kakko as above.

I like RB's idea of Dallas as a trading partner for a center coming this way for Lundkvist. They're going to need a RHD with Klingberg looking like he's moving on. You can see if Stankoven is attainable, but Bourque is likely more attainable. Lundkvist should go for a center of similar age, even if you need to attach the Rangers' late 2nd to him to get it done. Insurance in case Chytil continues his breakout and prices himself out of New York.

Worry about Miller and Lafreniere next summer. Either Kreider or Trouba will have to be moved to fit them in.
