I'm not crazy and thinking Kreider is replicating his 50 goal season, but you literally can't complain about Kreider floating around and not using his size in the post season when Laine is the softest 6"5 player since Malik. Please stop.
I wasn't complaining about Kreider floating/being soft. I think that's a coaching issue, I think if Staal line is dominating CK-Z then Gallant should split them up in Carolina and keep them together at home. I was just thinking his 50 goal season is an outlier. I think Kreider is a great player and I hope he can have a pavelski like career but I was just thinking NYR could use a pure shooter and a player who can play rw which would allow gaff & KK to stay on their natural position. That being said I do think C is more pressing if both Strome/Copp walk.

The Rangers need to be more mindful of the assets each guy has and how they mix those skillsets. We're a slow team. The Rangers identify this and go get Vatrano, and then they turn around and put Vatrano with Zibanejad and Kreider who are a good skater and a Ferrari, respectively. By putting the fast guy on our fast line, you haven't actually made the team faster. Put Kakko there. He needs speed around him.

Keep Vatrano but play him less. Kreider, Panarin, Kakko, and Lafreniere are your top six wingers.

I cannot stress this enough: sign Paul Stastny. He'll be cheaper than Copp and sign for shorter term, and he's basically better at everything.

Kreider-Zibanejad-Kakko
Panarin-Chytil-Lafreniere
Goodrow-Stastny-Vatrano
Blais-Motte-Hunt

Yes. the 4th line doesn't have a center. 4th line centers are fake and I will die on this hill. Swap Blais and Goodrow if it bothers you.
I like the Stasny idea a lot & the more you bring it up, the more sense it makes. He was very good in Vegas, versatile & can win faceoffs. Plus he wouldn't be expecting a ton of term or cash. Someone email Drury after the weekend, not during.

That contract is the definition of unmovable.
Ignoring the salary, and there are what 4 teams that could absorb 10m a year for another 5 years.
Bob had a full nmc for another full 2 years and then it’s a 16 team list.
Bob isn’t taking a move to Arizona or seattle (teams that can afford that cap hit)

Trade him to Sharks for EK. Panthers get a Dman they need and they can play Knight, sharks get a goaltender they have been trying to find.

Not out of question that both players would waive as well. (But I do think Panthers need to add a bit to that deal to make it worth it for SJ)

No I don’t think it will happen, but it’s a fun idea that can technically work

Bob went to Florida for a reason, hes not going to willingly pay those California taxes

I love the thought of getting Patrice Bergeron, but I can't see him playing anywhere other than Boston. Last year at age 36 he played well with 25 goals, 40 assists in 73 games. Would solve our center problem.
Wishful thinking. Retiring a Bruin whenever he hangs it up. Although we thought that with St.Louis and the Bolts. I would love Bergeron but that is a longshot.

We can still make an offer to Giroux???

Hurricanes have like twice as much cap space as us so anything we could offer Trochek they could assuredly match.

Bob had a solid season this year. I think he was in the .915 range?
That’s league average for a guy who takes up 1/8th of your cap space. Even worse for a goalie on the Presidents trophy winning team

Did we dodge a bullet with the Barkov contract extension? They said he wanted "The Big Stage" but it doesn't look like he's capable of performing on it.
Come on now. Remember when the entire Tampa Bay Lightning were playoff chokers?

This is Florida’s 2nd season as actual cup contenders

Also, you 100% sign Copp. Ideally similar to the Danault contract. I don’t think NYR brass or fans know/understand how good he is defensively yet. He was Winnipeg’s #1 shutdown guy and is solid on faceoffs. Might be one of the most versatile guys in the league as well, towards the end of his contract we can utilize him as an elite 3C

But of course, he comes here and is putting up terrible face-off numbers (I know small sample size though)

Playoffs included he has taken close to 300 faceoffs. It’s not that small. The results make me think the faceoff problem is team-oriented and not directly tied to whoever the center is taking the draw.

He's already one of our best players in transition.... we suck at transition.

It would be braindead to let him walk unless his price is astronomical

Well he hasn’t consistently played C. Hard to be good on faceoffs when you’re always in and out of the dot

We need speed
we need puck movement. You will never outskate the puck.

Speed is great for forecheck and loose pucks but the problem usually starts getting the puck out of our zone and through the NZ.

You can win with puck movement and our speed
