You’re not wrong at all, but this repetition about Trouba’s wife is one of the more bizarre anchors I’ve ever heard. The world does not revolve around his wife.

It is literally a cited reason by the Troubas around their desire to come and stay in New York long term. It’s borderline mysoginistic to downplay it as a factor. Her career may be near as lucrative as his when all is said and done.

The very highest paid doctors don't even make ELC type money, and it's a very tough job. Hard to find a more lucrative job than being an 8 million per year traffic cone

Worse comes to worse, the Rangers can buyout Nemeth's contract. $1M cap for next season. It increases the Rangers buyout money for next season. There is no cap hit for 23-24. The Rangers will have buyout money on the books for 23-24. Hopefully, the players will paid off their debt in the next two seasons. The cap increases for 24-25. There are two more $1M cap hits for 24-25 and 25-26.

Didn't realize his no-trade list but I don't think that will be debilitating in getting rid of him. It may cost a 2nd or 3rd but to open up the lineup I'd accept it.

I agree with the point of your post entirely, but there is one caveat:

Traffic cones get hit by drunk drivers, Trouba hits like a drunk driver.

I think he’s overpaid, but he’s honestly been good here. Aside from some reckless penalties that have hurt us, his performance has been very solid for that second pair role. It’s the cap hit that’s a problem, not Trouba himself.

This is hilarious. He was drafted the same year as Chytil. He has played 37 nhl games, and scored a total of 7 points, over 3 seasons.
This group was arguing to trade chytil last year, when he was putting up 20+ points in 42 games.

Studnika could not break into an injured boston lineup last year. He couldnt hold down a spot.
Why are we giving him a chance on our lineup when he doesn't appear to be an actual upgrade to anything we have.

Also Studnika is a young player. We talk about guys drafted in 17 like they're ancient but they're 23 years old.
What did I say about Chytil? 😂

I think Studnikas got a great toolkit for this group of forwards. What he has not or has yet to accomplish is also what makes him potentially available, no? As a team trading for him, you assume the risk that he doesn't pan out but do so with a lower price tag attached to the acquisition, both in terms of assets sent out, as well as, more importantly, cap hit and contractual leverage attached to the player.

Studnikas got a great foundation. Similar to a player like Jost in Minnesota now, he's a fast skater, with good hands, a good shot, and some offensive upside. That he couldn't crack Boston's lineup may have as much to do with why Bruce Cassidy was fired as it does Studnikas own ability or lack thereof. I think he's pretty safely a fourth liner at this point, but a middle six with he and Chytil could give this team a nice mixture of potential and safety net.

As far as talking about his age .. idk what that's responding to in my post lol. His youth is part of what makes him an attractive asset, and also may or may not determine his availability.

I remember having this exact conversation about Robert Thomas last year. Said I'd give up Buch + for him and got mocked bc Thomas was a) a RW, b) redundant on this team and c) not a top six player. I think it's safe to say I was vindicated on that one 😂

Reactions: Go Rangers
I am listening to Elliotte Friedman on the Jeff Marek show discussing there isn't much money in the system this summer. Free agency will be fast because players don't want to left without a chair. Some teams have money. Look at cap friendly. Most of the teams have little to no money. Elliotte said teams are trying to hold the line on term.

Just spit-balling here. Montreal Canadians trade LW/C Jonathan Drouin along with 26OA pick in the 2022 draft to the NY Rangers for future consideration or if Kent Hughes wants he can have either
Julien Gauthier or Libor Hajek instead of FC.
Drouin has a M-NTC and a year left at 5.5 million.
Montreal needs the cap space and we can play Jonathan at Center.
Feedback?

I don’t think they worry about that till the deadline

Just play kids. Hajek likely gone but they can find a cheap vet 7th as a ufa no problem

The issue is that thinking like that leads to bleeding picks at the deadline.

And I don't think we are going to see much "Just play kids" attitude after a ECF appearance. Spots will have to be earned.

You never know with NHL GMs, but honestly, hasnt Strome’s production been horrible given that he played with Panarin and one of the top PPs in the league? 54 pts in the regular season and 9 in 19 in the POs. How many would Milan Lucic or Loui Eriksson or James Neal score on that PP and playing with Panarin 5 on 5? More than 40 pts isn’t a stretch.

Meanwhile, almost all centers that aren’t really fast are struggling. Calgary are trying to dump Monahan, Winnipeg is listening to PLD and Schleife, guys like Ryan Johansen in Nashville is getting less than nothing done. Everyone can tell that you must have that speed at center ice.

It’s seems uber likely that whomever gives Strome a long term deal and expect a 2C production from him playing with average 2nd line wingers will soon end up being disappointed in not getting more from him on the 3rd or 4th line.

So does that mean nobody will give him 6m on a long term deal?? I never expect much from NHL GMs, but it still feels like that there got to be some kind of limit.

Strome was injured the last 60 games this year so there's that.

Why does Montreal need cap space and why would we want Drouin as our 2C, even for 1 year?

Montreal is entering a rebuild. They aren't going to trade a 1st to dump 1 year of Drouin.

Terrible.

This Trouba talk is wild. Especially after the season he had

This season's sucess will only embolden Dolan/Drury directives. I'm not saying they have the $ to make things happen, but maybe we'll see a trade or two?

Drouin has a lot of bagage and i think for him he needs a team that can manage him, i think we're too young for that, i could see him being a fit in Colorado, If I'm colorado id look to get him if Mtl would be willing to eat some salary, him and MacKinnon were great together in Halifax. I think being reuinited with MacKinnon would be good for him imo
