So the consensus is don’t sign a big UFA and play kids ?
Deal Kreider ? That’s what I’m feeling here lol
When you put it like that, it completely misrepresents what those people actually want.
People like myself and others want to continue the rebuild, because we feel that no matter what happens this off-season, the team is not ready to compete.
Thus it would be better to avoid long-term commitments, continue bringing along our kids, sign some cheap, short-term vets as stop-gaps and add to our already very nice pipeline.
Hopefully we see major steps from a few of our younger guys next year (think: Cytil, Lias, Howden, Hajek, Lindgren, etc.) and KK, Shesty and Kravtsov make great first impacts.
If that's the case, then we can really start looking at supplementing the new core in the following year. Also, this gives guys like Miller, Lundkvist, etc. more time to develop so that hopefully they can look to crack the roster soon after.
The team is just too young to do anything special right now. Also, even if added EK, our D is still horrendous. We need to see more before we go and spend a shitload to build it out. KK is going to have some growing pains, as is Kravtsov.
The process is unfinished and it would be wise for the team to continue its patience and retain their cap flexibility moving forward so that when the core finally reveals itself, we can supplement with FA dollars where necessary.
