I think they like what Crouse brings in Arizona, even if he hasn't hit the offensive upside folks thought he had when he was drafted just yet. Keep in mind that Tom Wilson took a number of years before he found his offensive game at this level. Crouse took a decent step forward this season.

Fischer is the guy I keep coming back to. If they add Kreider, he's on the outside looking in. Not a flashy player but is a worker who could be a consistent 20 goal guy on the right line where he does the dirty work for some skill players.

Fischer, 2019 1st, and a conditional 2021 pick if Kreider signs.
I'd be fine with that, I just do not believe Kreider returns that value without adds to him.

Yeah that could certainly be the case. I'm curious to see just how much other teams value him around the league. The underlying numbers are great, but the scoring droughts are definitely a concern.
Arizona is going to want term I think, if they are moving out of the 1st entirely, I see that as a road block. If the Ranger end up with the Tampa or Dallas first and add that 1st too, or even the Jets depending on where it land,...

I mean if I am the Yotes, I'm not trading that for possibly one year of Kreider unless the seat is on fire.

Not just Arizona either, if there are other teams in that draft slot area, hot seat and all, I think they are too going to want a similar hedge.

Good points. It's really going to come down to just how badly Arizona feels like they need to improve and make the playoffs. Chayka is definitely on the hot seat, and they need to do something to make that franchise attractive for investors and fans alike.

Trading up with Kreider as the piece seems steep to me. Even with just one year left on his deal. Ya never know though. Maybe the Rangers can get a guy they really like and they're willing to do something like that.

If we get Kakko, I think we can count on two if not all three of kreider names and vesey getting moved by TDL next year.

This is when folks that were on the fence about Panarin start to reconsider getting him into the mix. Getting a kid like Kakko changes everything... full steam ahead with what seems like a promising and quick rebuild

Yeah I was pretty non Panarin, but now I think it has to be a consideration.

I really, really think they should draft some more players that can grow around this #2.

I do not see it about next year or even the one after, it's about what this #2, plus everything else can do when they are in their prime while still keeping the best of all of them under the cap so they can take as many shots as possible at the Cup.

I have the opposite thought
Kappo won't be a star right off the bat
And in 4 years when we have to pay chytl krav kappo etc we won't afford them all with a declining panarin eating 11+ million
The question is can the "kids" be in their prime and win us a cup before this scenario happens?
I'm not too sure because our young D is a little further away from being in their prime

It really changes everything. Either Hughes or Kakko provide an immediate impact. I would think at least one of the center prospects gets moved.

I think Kakko not being a stud right away is incredibly debatable

Rangers fans haven’t had a prospect this highly touted since...ever, really. Laine dropped 36 in his first season as a teenager, I don’t see why Kakko couldn’t break 30. I expect him to be around 30 goals and 60 points. Off the bat.

nah
they might do what they should have done last year and keep more guys in HFD though

Now lets say that Winnipeg pick winds up in the early 20's and we wind up getting one of those Dallas/TBL 1st rounders. Can we possibly trade up to get back into the top 10 or near it to grab one of the centers if they're still there? Is it worth it?

Kreider - Zibanejad - Buchnevich
Namestnikov - Chytil - Kakko
Vesey - Howden - Kravstov
Lemieux - Andersson - Fast

Where do Strome and Nieves fit? We’re jammed up already.

It actually pushes me further away from Panarin, to be honest. If you're looking at Kakko/Kravtsov as your top two RW's for the next 5+ years (holy crap) and Kreider, Buchnevich, and Chytil all in the mix to fill out the two LW positions, do you really need Panarin? I don't think it's wise to invest $11m in another winger.

Plus there's that whole issue of the defense still being a train wreck. A train that was carrying dumpsters full of used diapers. And it's all on fire.
