I mentioned something similar a few pages back and brought up Christian Fischer as a possible target. What are your thoughts on him? Seems like a project player but has proven he can score as a pro. Possibly on the outside looking in with a Kreider acquisition?

I wanted him as an additional piece in the Stepan deal.

Exactly the type of player we should be gambling on if we're going to take gambles at all.

I'd be really interested in Lawson Crouse from Arizona as the player coming back for Kreider. Perhaps the Coyotes would look at some like Vesey as well for scoring depth as that was their main concern last year. For all of Jimmy's faults, he had 17 goals

Still a few deals to be made IMO
Georgiev and Smith to Trauntah
Shatty at 50% and Names to Edmonton TDL
Pionk and Fast to Detroit
Vesey and Nieves to Carolina
The King to St Louis

Doubt they need him with Binnington, and doubt he'd want to actually spend 2 more years in St. Louis.

3rd round NYR pick @ #68 = John Malone (D from Youngstown). Heard this from a very reliable HFNYR poster...

Former Delbarton player! Wouldn't mind that with a 3rd Round pick, although he might be there in the 4th. He's a winger btw, not a D.

Brendan Smith for Bobby Ryan. 3 years left. Of the books when the rebuild hopefully is done. Right hand shot. Maybe useful on the powerplay. 42 points this year. Ottawa saves a lot of salary.

Hank played well over 70 games in Europe the year before he came over. 68 plus a preseason. How many has Shesty played? 28+2 EHT plus preaaeaon, PF which a ton has been snooze fests...

Are you guys expected to retain Claesson?

They have a possibility of wanting to keep spots open on D, yet I assume they qualify Claesson. I'd think if qualified, signed to a one year, and he ends up beaten out for spots in camp, he ends up waived or traded for something minor, like a 2020 7th.

I actually think his play is worthy of a bottom pair steady NHL spot, just not sure with the Rangers or not, but given his likely cap hit versus many other "should be bottom pair defenders" who cost way more, he could be kind of a bargain.

And their #1 pick this year and what else in addition to Crouse?

As an outside voice, there is no reason for Ottawa to do this. We in fact need Ryan's salary to reach the floor. Probably going to be a good teacher for the young guys coming up as well.

I think they like what Crouse brings in Arizona, even if he hasn't hit the offensive upside folks thought he had when he was drafted just yet. Keep in mind that Tom Wilson took a number of years before he found his offensive game at this level. Crouse took a decent step forward this season.

Fischer is the guy I keep coming back to. If they add Kreider, he's on the outside looking in. Not a flashy player but is a worker who could be a consistent 20 goal guy on the right line where he does the dirty work for some skill players.

Fischer, 2019 1st, and a conditional 2021 pick if Kreider signs.
