Free of injuries, distractions, Hilary Knight regaining offensive touch in 2nd PWHL season
Fleet forward top 5 in league in goals and points while ice-time average ranks 7th

Hilary Knight was more impressed than surprised in discovering she was leading Professional Women's Hockey League forwards in ice time three months into the league's second season.
At 35 and one of the PWHL's oldest players, the face of U.S. women's hockey has always valued being someone capable of playing in every situation. In averaging nearly 22 minutes per game, the Boston Fleet captain also finds the playing time reassuring in putting to rest any questions following a drop in production last year.
It helps Knight is injury-free after being slowed by an ankle issue she chose not to address until last summer. What's also true is Knight can focus more on playing after no longer being consumed by feeling a need to shoulder the burden of ensuring the launch of a league she helped establish went off without a glitch.
"We can all kind of just go out there and play a little bit more than before, right?" Knight told The Associated Press during the Fleet's Takeover Tour stop in Buffalo last weekend. "You're not having to worry about all the overhead, what's going to happen and feeling responsible for a missed bus or whatever wrinkle arises." ...

PWHL attendance, scoring up this season with expansion plans on horizon
Increase of nearly 2,000 fans per game can be attributed to Takeover Tour
John Wawrow · The Associated Press · Posted: Mar 03, 2025 1:11 PM CST | Last Updated: March 3
Attendance is up, and so is scoring two-thirds through the Professional Women's Hockey League's second season, with the six-team league closing in on a decision to expand by as many as two franchises for next year. ...
The league is on the verge of growing, with (Exec. VP of Business Operations Amy) Scheer saying an expansion decision is expected by early April. Scheer would not provide any hint on what markets are in the running and whether one or two teams will be added. ...
The attendance jump can be attributed to the Takeover Tour. Six of the nine games so far have drawn 89,953 fans, including 19,038 in Vancouver, the fourth highest in league history.
Another factor is the Toronto Sceptres playing in a larger venue this year, moving to the 7,800-seat Coca-Cola Coliseum from the 2,500-seat Mattamy Athletic Centre.
The New York Sirens have slightly benefited in establishing their home at New Jersey's Prudential Center after playing out of three venues last season. They're averaging 2,648 fans through 10 games at Prudential vs. 2,496 over 12 home games last year. ...
