They are more accurate than the musings and speculations of random posters for sure. He's not just making it up.

Where did I say he was making it up? You do realize these guys get fed bad information on purpose all the time right? This is us discussing what they are reporting and discerning whether it makes sense based on historical evidence.

I think I posted this yesterday or the day before, but Dallas has 5 Centers in their top 10 prospects (as ranked by Wheeler)

1) Wyatt Johnson
2) Mavrik Bourque
6) Riley Damiani
7) Ty Dellandrea
9) Jacob Peterson

Their highest ranked RHD prospect is:

13) Jack Bar

I think there's a potential deal to be made here.

EDIT: Just my personal opinion but I'd rank Peterson higher than Dellandrea.

I think I would agree, also lets face it. Why else do the Rangers not have many promising up and coming center ice men? Their first round picks have not been center ice men! That's not to say they've drafted poorly in the first round. They've picked up quality pieces, but the last time we zeroed in at center, was in 2017 (Andersson and Chytil), and before that?? Who knows? Perhaps it was J.T. Miller? Stepan before him in the second round?

Two and a half years from now, when the flat cap ends and there is an expected big bump in the cap, and when our first wave of kids are 22-25 instead of 20-22, and the second wave of kids is breaking in, and our vet core is still only 30-32. Particularly if we use the assets that some folks have earmarked for the most expensive rentals and use them instead to get either long-term pieces and/or to move up the draft so we can finally add the high-end center prospect we haven't had in 15 years. Also, to hear Vancouver fans, the "3rd asset" would need to be more valuable than Nils and the 1st.

There's a lot of speculation in your 3 year plan about the cap, how our veterans age, how our young players progress, and a center prospect that isn't even in the organization yet. Adding JT Miller @ 50% to the group of forwards we have now gives us 2 playoff runs with enough talent to compete for a cup while Igor is underpaid. It will also help our younger players to be surrounded by veteran talent on all 3 lines and get the experience of deep playoff runs we could have with him on the roster.

I don't think you can say with confidence that your plan will put together more talent than a top 9 lead by Bread, Mika, Kreider, JT Miller, Strome, Kakko, and Laf over the next 2 years. And if you expect Laf and Kakko to be a reason why the plan you suggest works, don't you think they'll be significantly more productive by next year's playoff run?

The cap going up will help in a few years, but every team will benefit from that. And I know some Vancouver fans are expecting an unrealistic package for Miller, but Buffalo fans expected a lot more for Eichel than they got and I don't see any team willing to give up more for Miller than what the Sabres got for Eichel.

JT Miller is pushing the Rangers over the top? Less than four years ago, the Rangers couldn't wait to get rid of Miller at the deadline. Now JT Miller is the missing piece to the Rangers winning the Cup.

$2.6M cap hit over the next 2 playoff runs for a center that's top 15 in points over the last 3 seasons. Does it matter that he was on the Rangers before he started producing like this? You can resign Strome and have Laf and Kakko develop with PPG linemates no matter where Gallant puts them.

In a perfect world, we'd see Lundkvist and Schneider paired together next season. I don't really see what all the hype is around Jones. And if they don't see Lundkvist playing this year, they need to find another body for the third pair because Gallant doesn't seem to keen on having Jones out there late in tight games.

If you haven't noticed how much better the puck moves out of the DZ with him than pretty much all of our D then I don't know what to tell you.

Playing Nils on his off side is like the worst idea ever. He's not agile enough to pull this off and he has trouble moving pucks on his strong side as it is.

If it's a choice between Nils, Jones, Nemeth, Hajek to play on the third pair as that 6th dman it's not even close. I would go with Jones. Of course I have no doubt when and if Nemeth is ready to come back it's going to be Nemeth as that final 6th dman.

Nemeth has been very disappointing lately...maybe has something to do with his personal issues?
Otherwise I believe the buy out for him would be a million dollars for the next three years. Would rather not do that especially if we don't have cap issues going into next year but if we had to wouldn't be the worst thing I guess

We really haven't had all that much of a chance to draft a C in the first round since then. I mean, fans would have mutinied if they picked Byfield over Laf or Dach/Turcotte/Cozens over Kakko - so winning the lottery ended up being kind of a blessing/kind of a curse.

Before that, we're looking at Kravtsov - personally I wanted them to take Farabee - which wouldn't change anything since he's not a C either.

Really the only "mistake" the front office made drafting centers-wise was taking that Goalie in the 2nd round in 2018 instead of a player like Jack Drury.

The only other argument you can really make is that they should have taken a center instead of Othmann, but it's not like on draft day I was like "I can't believe they passed on Svechkov/Johnson/Lucius/Bolduc etc."

sounds great but I'm not giving up a first, a top prospect (I'm sure they would want Othmann not Nils) and possibly another high pick for him.

If Drury is smart, he and his team can scour the league for guys with bad contracts who other teams may not be interested in as rentals who cost very little, or finding the correct person. They can also use some of their depth pieces to offset the prices (Gauthier, Hajek, Georgiev). Trading a 1st seems like a bad idea for a team just getting going within the compete window.
This^. This is shaping up to be a buyer’s market. This is why some of the G.M.’s are getting ahead of the wave. We are just past the halfway mark and for all intensive purposes 8 teams in the East and 3 teams in the west are already not making it to the post season.
Drury should be finding desperate G.M.‘s who will take anything rather than nothing at the TDL for serviceable players who are on expiring contracts or using our large cap space to accommodate G.M’s who need to move out expiring contracts to make room for help in their Cup run in exchange for Center prospects and or picks.

Lots of suggestions to move KAM. Is it because he's big but doesn't hit?

No it has to do with the availability of Chycrun and people want him on this squad. Yet people dont realize by trading our to
See id stick chych with fox for the next 8 years and watch them be the best pair in the nhl. But that’s just me considering chych’s deal is gold right now

Thats great and all but now you have to reshuffle the deck and make more trades in order to make salaries work. Your just robbing peter to pay peter. Let KAM and the youngsters grow into their spot. With Fox out KAM has stepped up his game and others have been able to step in and provide stability. We again have a ton of highly rated defensive prospects and should be dealing them for another dman.

Chychrun is not a need, he is a want. While it would be great to have him, the assets we have are better used on the players we need. We have the defensive players that need to be on ELC for now and the future.

If we want another dman id suggest trading away lesser peices for a gavrikov de haan whatever that can stabilize the 3rd pairing.

It’s neither terrible nor foolish. We don’t have a top pairing LD and KAM is not yet a top 4 defenseman you can rely on. He’s still developing. Chychrun is cost controlled and can instantly soak up the important minutes. Also consider that Lindgren plays a style of game that can leave him really banged up and in danger of missing games.

We have a deep defensemen pool, but we are not deep defensively for this season. The left side is incredibly weak if the hope is to do damage in the playoffs.

It is terrible and foolish. KAM is steadily improving his game, he is tremendously young and is getting better. Leave him alone. Chychrun may be cost controlled for awhile and can do that but he is a PP guy, he needs PP min. He wont get that here. Plus he would slot on the 3rd pairing. You are not breaking up lindy and fox. KAM and trouba are set. So yes i see it as a mistake.

Lindgren has done nothing but be great for us and is still 23yo!! Girardi and company didnt break down till their 30's. Thats in 7 years. You are overreacting.

This is true, but this is akin to how Grabner was going to return a 1st.

I've long assumed that Lehkonen's price would be a 2nd+ a decent prospect.

2nd+decent prospect for a 3rd liner who we can't reasonable afford to re-sign is quite a hefty cost when our actual need is a top six RW and we can use the 2nd to deal for that instead of a depth piece/pker. And I think a 2nd+decent prospect is too much to deal for him in the first place even if we could easily afford to re-sign him.

Janmark+5 went for a 2+3 at @50% last year
Foligno went for a 1+4 @50% (with 16 pts in 42 games)
Goodrow, with an extra year, went for a 1st the year before
Coleman got a conditional first the year before (with an extra year)

These hardworking depth guys who play a bunch of roles getting a first or 2nd+ is something that happens yearly.

If I can get JT for Chytil, Nils and a 1st, I pull the trigger.

While he's a beast on the PP, he would be top 3-5 on our team at ES scoring with 23 points.

Right there with Mika, CK and Fox

I don't know if Nils has been overtaken by anyone as our top prospect. He had 25 games playing with Nemeth adjusting to the smaller rink. And the consensus seems to be Vancouver wants a RD. But I'd trade Othmann and a first+ for 2 playoff runs of Miller @ $2.6M.

Hey so what's up with Nemeth? Did I miss that? I remember he was out with something undisclosed but I thought he came back for a game or two, but now he's back out? Do we know what's up?

I'll try to keep this more minimalist, with the concept that our front office went into the deadline using cap space to negotiate deals and didn't want to give up big pieces

Gauthier + 2nd for Lehkonen
- Lehkonen is a playoff style forward and would help our middle 6 a lot, he is also a RFA at year end

Hajek for Debrusk
- Debrusk carries a high cap hit for a very lackluster performance lately, many articles about him being on his way out there, he is a RFA at year end, so we can either trade him away or just let him walk, or maybe he likes it here and re-signs for a very low minimum (which you can do if your RFA amount is not being met and you don't want to test the market) to recoup his value
- Debrusk can play a good bottom 6 role, has upside in a reclamation project as well

Chytil can go for a prospect or picks for all I care. I'd happy take 2 2nds for him.

Kreider Zib Laf
Panarin Strome Kakko
Debrusk Goodrow Lehkonen
Barron Rooney Reaves

Lindgren Fox
Miller Trouba
Jones Schneider

I'd love to see them make a competitive offer for Chychrun or Garland, that doesn't involve Schneider or Othmann

Hampus Lindholm is an interesting rental LD

Pavelski also be a more pricey but big time rental add

Reilly Smith has been talked about a lot but he is scoring really well this year and is a good part of that potent offense in Vegas. You'd have to think that Vegas is looking for ways to make that work. Also, that there would be more bidders/suitors than just the Rangers for his services, despite his decent sized cap hit. We wouldn't be getting him for a song, would likely need to pay a 2nd+, which I am somewhat reluctant to do for a rental this year.

Ideally...

Lehkonen for 2nd+ Pajuniemi
Copp for Gauthier + Hajek
Garland for Lundkvist + Chytil + 2022 1st + conditional 2023 1st (becomes 2nd if Rangers do not make Conference Finals)

Kreider Zib Laf
Panarin Strome Garland
Lehkonen Copp Kakko
Rooney Goodrow Reaves

Lindgren Fox
Miller Trouba
Jones Schneider

Two first round picks and a 3rd for JT Miller?
