Agreed here. But according to reports, Keenan HATED Gartner. Was probably too soft for him. Did we really need to give up Amonte for Stefan Matteau? That was the thing, Keenan was just like "don't give a shyt, just get me my men".

Maybe Messier didn't like Gartner either. He sure didn't like Zubov. What snowflakes the organization was! A lifetime indeed.
Keenan definitely hated Gartner. It wouldn't have worked. Gartner didn't have a reputation of being a playoff stallion, whether that's fair or not. He had never got to the third round in his career up to 1994. Made it with Toronto that year, they lost in 5 games to the Canucks, he had an assist. He also had another year on his contract that other teams didn't think was a great deal. According to Marry Meisel, not many teams wanted him.

do people forget the shorthanded goal in game 2 for the 2-1 lead? do they forget the 2-1 goal in game 3? those are huge GREASY goals. I am in no way picking on gartner but he doesnt score either one of those...

absolutely no one knows that. no one knows if that team wins without that exact mix of players.

what we DO know is that the team won after all those deals and that is all I care about.

Do we know who scored the gwg in game 7 of the SCF? Every time I watch it, it doesn't look like Messier's goal.

yeah but that team wins nothing without Tikkanen. he was an animal. hounding the puck and insane in front of the net. he was the perfect playoff player back then.
He actually scored a pretty big goal against the Canucks but it was waived off. It was a slap shot from just inside the blue line, the refs called off sides but it wasn't. I think it was game 5 but I'm not 100%.

I remember teams always picking him up for the playoffs in the 90s. I think he was traded 5 or 6 times in a 6 year span at one point.

Pavelski and JT Miller. To me, Best 2 targets out there. JT Miller gives you a guy you can keep for 2 seasons relatively cost controlled especially if you get him at 25% retention and sweeten the deal going back a little.

Go get Gourde Giordano and Miller(50% cap)

Empty the cupboard: chytil Kravtsov Robertson Lundkvist Jones Othmann Barron our 2022 first and 2023 second all on the table to do it.
No to cupboard explosion. I think there is enough to spend a little but what you are talking about is giving me post 1994 Neil Smith PTSD
Are you gonna sign Malkin, Letang, Bergeron, and Giordano in the summer too at the cost of losing all our young players (won't be enough money to resign them let alone make QOs + there will be no ice time left for them to develop)?
Gourde has a $5.17M cap hit @ 6 years WITH a full no trade clause so good luck with getting him.
