Pavelski and JT Miller. To me, Best 2 targets out there. JT Miller gives you a guy you can keep for 2 seasons relatively cost controlled especially if you get him at 25% retention and sweeten the deal going back a little.
Pavelski is a top target but will be expensive. A playoff phenom.
JT Miller is highly desirable too. He could be even more expensive than Pavelski though so the return on investment might not be as good there.
Toffoli is one player who could be a cheaper option than the former two but he is definitely a big step down but you get what you pay for.

I haven't given much thought to the Igor/Georgiev dynamic, but if Georgiev really is "checked out" and frustrated he needs to get the hell off the team. The Rangers have given him every opportunity to show what he can do in a starting role and by and large he's been subpar. So quickly does he forget that the organization cut Henrik Lundqvist starts to zero AND bought him out so Georgiev could maintain his spot on the roster. Trade a mid-round pick for Holtby or halak and be done with it.

Agreed. I think it’s time to get rid of the real team cancer now.

Bolded is still so unforgivable. Awful way to treat one of the best players in the history of your franchise

Ive been saying this for a while now. Many others as well. Geo has a puss on his face every time shesty wins... you can tell he wants more time/to be a starter..
Replacing strome/Geo/ Nemeth and possibly chytil ( mainly for the cap) is going to be addition by subtraction for the start of next year.

put laf in Stromes spot on the PP, and find a 2C that’s more defensive, but can still comtribute offensively, and Stromes loss won’t sting as much as some think....
We’re going to be a better team when this happens.
Wish we could get the shatty dead cap back sooner, but they’ll survive..
Rooney pricing himself out is also very replaceable.

There are plenty of good reasons why Gorton & JD are no longer running this franchise, and the way they cast aside Lundqvist, not to mention other long time Rangers Fast & Staal, in order to pay Georgiev, DeAngelo & Brendan Lemiuex in the Winter of 2020 is unforgivable. Directly led that wire to wire embarrassment of a season.

I agree for the most part but its a little insulting to include Strome's name in that list of players. Hes been nothing but a good to great player for us since he got here and is clearly a leader in the room. He should be re-signed because the grass isnt always greener.

I don’t think you can with Zibby signed...
Rangers have been looking to swing a trade for a center, and strome has been on the trade block for the better part of 2 years already.... they almost walked from his QA.

strome has def performed admirably and better then any of us hoped, but he’s still a band aid if this team truly wants to get better.

It wouldn’t surprise me in the least if we try to make a big deal for a Larkin/PLD type in the offseason...
Panarin can likely play with anyone. Even if he sees a 10-15 pt decrease in his points but plays a better all around game, like how he did with PLD centering him in CBJ..
His production on the PP here should still be very good, because 4/5 guys on that unit are going to be here for a while...

geo should have been dealt a while ago.... but it’s a moot point now.

I’d expect something along the lines of 2 of
Lundkvist/Cuylle/Robertson+1st+ chytil maybe nemeth ( cap reasons) to try and bring back a long term 2C whose more what they are looking for

we’re going to add at the TDL as well, but I’m expecting the big trade to be offseason or at the draft...
Giving strome 6 mill for 6-7 years is a colossal mistake...
This is his major retirement deal.... it’s either going to be a decent cap hit for a real long time, or a higher cap hit for 4-5 years.... my guess is the first... either way, it’s time for NYR to cut and run.
They’ve prolonged it as long as they could have up to this point

If the plan is to trade for a Strome improvement it better be worth it.

They better get someone measurably better at a significantly reduced cap hit for the kind of assets we’d be giving up.

Otherwise we’d be better off with just Strome and all the other pieces still on the table.

If the Rangers can get Strome to sign an extension with an AAV that begins in a 5, there isnt a better option out there. The way I see it, the organization knows that the foundation of the team is already built, outside of the money earmarked for a 2nd line C. No one who comes in below 5.5-6 is going to be a clear upgrade over Strome and anyone who is an upgrade will probably come in at 7-8 mil, and in that case youre really in a cap bind when Kakko/Lafreniere/Miller are looking for new contracts the next 2 summers.

This Georgiev thing is absolutely manufactured by the fanbase. So he’s a young guy upset he’s not a starter. Who wouldn’t be? They all want to start. It hasn’t affected the team. He’s been on the team for five years now. If he was that much of a problem he wouldn’t have lasted here that long.

I agreed with you until Mollie Walker basically confirmed that people around the team know hes a malcontent.

And how has that affected the team? They’re 30-13-4. Who cares if other players don’t like him? This locker room stuff is always overblown. These guys are professional athletes. All this “distraction” stuff is media driven. They’re perfectly capable of putting those things aside to play the game and perform.

It hasn't but I was responding to you saying it was manufactured by the fans, which i believed until today when the Post gave credence to it. I do think Georgiev's mindset has negatively affected his play for sure. Vally has referenced on this on MSG as well.

Why are they the only players on the team who don't follow each other on Instagram? There is way too much smoke.

if I’m NYR, I’m targeting the jets hard... they look to be in the middle of a changing of the guard rebuild... my guess is they’d like to resign PLD long term, but I have no clue how he feels about being there.
Scheifle will likely also be shopped.
Either guy would be a better option then strome at similar cap hit imo.
Everyone made a big deal about Heinola in the trouba trade, but he’s looking more and more like an undersized 4-5-6 D rather then a top 4 fixture.
Pionk will likely be the superior player... and he still comes in no where capable of being able to provide what trouba gives this team physically.
Jets D/goaltending isn’t very good. Plus they’ve got Wheeler/ horrible deal to try and move, and others to try and move to fix some major holes.
Beyond Perfetti, they don’t have a lot coming..... Lowry could also be available, he’s making too much money for what he provides, Copp will likely head to greener pastures.... imo, they are in trouble and are going to need a shake up.
We’ve made the Hayes and Trouba deals with them. So we do have some prior history...
PLD and Scheifle are def 2 players to keep an eye on in the offseason imo as potential targets.....
Larkin is all going to depend on if he wants to resign to a long term deal there and wait for Det to get better, or much like Chycrun, does he feel like he’s wasting his prime years??
It’s possible he could become available, but probably unlikely.
He’s in the basket with Cirelli and Lindholm as 2 pieces that probably won’t move unless they don’t really want to resign there..
Our most likely trade partners are Kings, Jets, Dallas, and........??? Any other thoughts??
Edge reported we’ve had a bunch of talks with Calgary, but they’ve seem to righted the ship...

It being a problem is manufactured by the fans. The fact that people search out for him not celebrating with Igor after wins and such and look for it. Certainly could be true that other players don’t like him. But it doesn’t really matter and have an effect on the team. There are 23+ guys on a team plus staff. You’re never going to have everyone like everyone. It’s inevitable someone will be unhappy or disliked or something. But if you can’t put that stuff to the side then you’re not a very good professional athlete in the first place

Try to think of the bright side. If he screws it up it will be one more failed trade that you can add to your endless loop of fantasy deals like Kreider for Robertson/1st & Buch for Kupari/1st.

I can picture it now, "Had Drury only waited, the Flames were internally discussing adding Lindholm to their initial offer of Tkachuk & a 2nd"

Those aren’t fantasies.
