LeBrun doing the Hurricanes bidding, if the Rangers offered pick 37, no way that gets it done, but that Jets pick that squints would be 28 right now would, get out of here Pierre.
f*** him. LeBrun hates the Rangers. Of course he's going to shill for the Canes here.

LeBrun was the first to say it’s believed Foc wanted the Rangers. What an odd thing for a Carolina henchman to do, quell the market like that.

Zucc with an assist in the first period of his first game back. I’d bet good money Dallas re-signs him, Nill has been on the hot seat and with little depth behind Seguin, Radulov, and Benn, they’re desperate for another top 6 forward

Said it from the start I have full confidence that Zuc will resign there. Spezza's contract is up this year and he would be a nice upgrade from him for the pk and pp.

Based on the fact that there's a chance they could get him for free in 15 months or so, I wouldn't offer more than the Rangers 3rd round pick and maybe another late pick for Fox. If a time comes where we know that the Bolts didn't win the cup, I might consider offering that 2nd rounder but I wouldn't be thrilled about it.

You’d be ok offering the 68th pick but not the 57th-61st pick?

Like many have said, I’d easily give up a late second rounder for Fox. I’d certainly be pretty excited with a player with his pedigree drafted in the second round in any particular year. The nice thing is that RD is more a pressing need within how our prospects potentially plan out. Even better is that fox fills in the next wave of young d man coming in a couple years before miller and lundqkist.

So I mean, obviously no one is against the player coming into the ranks but fans are betting that we’d be able to sign him anyway without sacrificing the pick and getting someone in addition to fox.

I think it’s worth the guarantee, if the Rangers would be able to negotiate with the player and sign him immediately. Needs to play professionally next year. Best course for where he is developmentally and where we are in the building of the foundation.

Ranked by ‘experience’

Left:
Skeji
hajek
Lindgren
Rykov
Miller

Right:
Pionk
DeAngelo
Fox
Keane
Lundkist

New waves of players every couple of years. Not a lot of guarantees for top pairing elite defense but a good amount of really promising to be at least top four or have a specialty.

I know it’s ‘wasting’ picks. But it’s a safe bet. The Rangers, however, better get their top pick right.

Re: Lundqvist...New York has always been a tough town to grow old in. Ranger fans have always had great admiration for this seminal star but perhaps his time has passed. Perhaps he know this better than most. When I first raised the issue of him leaving a few weeks ago, the fallback was he won’t walk away from that contract. He might. The thought of him playing for another team was blasphemy. He might. For several weeks I’ve thought this season was taking a toll on him. The last two weeks have really amplified that thought.

It will be a very sad day when the King reigns no more. I’m braced for it to happen sooner rather than later.

I’d prefer to trade a 3rd and a player for Fox. We have a lot of prospects, many of whom won’t be a factor with the big team. Deal from depth. I do think Fox would be a great add and I doubt many other teams will enter the bidding knowing everything that we know.

Yeah, I don’t know much about how that GM of Carolina will function in negotiations. But this is the sensible way to solve this. Gorton will not want to give up those hard earned higher picks. Make it a 3-4th and a prospect, someone like Lindgren.

I don't think literally our entire organization plus that pick would return McDavid.

He's trending to be a top 10 player ever.

The worse state EDM get into, the more likely a McDavid trade is becoming. McDavid is really a super marketable generational talent, totally wasted in EDM. Almost totally wasted at least. It’s hard to see that EDM will be much better next season than this year. Or that they will be a contender in the coming years.

Nobody can be happy about this. It’s like LeBron being stashed away on some NBA team never making the POs his entire prime. I don’t know the NBA, but like Toronto and then not being in the POs his first 8 years.

What had LeBron been worth for the NBA? What would McDavid in any kind of marketable position be worth to the NHL?

It’s getting to a point where at least everyone in the business would have sympathy if McDavid pulled a Lindros. I bet that today already, people are asking that agent of him, same as Matthews has right, if they really are satisfied with McDavids situation?

How much is EDMs obliviation of the most marketable asset hockey is going to have in decades costing the league? All teams? We are certainly talking 100s of million of dollars.

And really, and I know this will sound a bit nutty, but you could even argue that it would be best for EDM to deal McDavid. They have zero flexibility the coming years. They are so flawed, so far from competing. They could deal McDavid and force the taker to take Lucic at 100%, ie clearing almost 20m of cap space, and still return a number of great young assets. I have a hard time not seing them take the same type of step forward as the Islanders have done if they could use that flexibility to get some depth.

What can he do about it now? If he wanted to dip he shouldn't have signed that titanic contract.

If the NHL's marketing department can't take advantage of a player like McDavid it's their own fault. Would anyone would really find that hard to believe? You go up to people on the street and ask them who Nikita Kucherov is, they're not gonna say "The best player on the Tampa Bay Lightning", they're gonna say "That guy from the Soviet Union?"

Shit, asking people who the Lightning are would probably be an even more confusing question.

He can do what Lindros did. Likely? Hehe, nah not even I think that. But not necessarily impossible. I dont think the upset around the league would set any records.

Tampa is on display all over. You can basically not even put EDM on tv for big parts of the season. It’s not optimal.

Is any other team going to offer a 2nd round pick (or more) for the rights for Adam Fox considering the circumstances? You play Cool hand Luke here and wait it out knowing you have the best Cards

But can we count on Fox only considering us? Would be really turn down Tampa or Pittsburg or Chicago or teams like that if they came knocking?

If it becomes a bidding war the price is probably going up to a late 1st.
