Hank likes Torts. Tortorella built an entire system around him, and Hank had his best years under Torts. CLB plays a very similar defensive structure in the D-Zone. Although they struggle with turnovers going the other way from the neutral zone, and offensive zone. That's fixable for CLB.

Probably the biggest thing they need to work on. When CLB is rolling, they are a very good team, but one that has inconsistencies.

Will be interesting to see how free agency unfolds for that team. They have a very deep farm in all positions. Bemstrom is the real deal. I think he can score 25 next year. Foudy is another one, same with Texier. On defense they have Gavrikov & Peake.
That's not what Avery said. Yeah, he has a bias but it's not that far-fetched. CLB has some issues next year.. Traded away nearly the entire draft and potentially losing their best forwards.

Hank will retire or play out his seasons in NY IMO. San Jose a possibility if Karlsson stays there

Can't say I pay attention to Avery. I know he's done well for himself, and was involved with one of Hank's off-ice ventures. Maybe there's some truth to it, maybe it ended badly but for a while Hank was bought into Torts. I don't think Hank was on the receiving end of a Tortorella temper tantrum, but I do know other guys that were who didn't like it, but also gave Torts credit for turning their career around.

As stated by a few others why is Hank brought up constantly. Stop with the BS that the franchise is bigger than one player...this man has been THE FRANCHISE FOR THE LAST 13 YEARS. We wouldn’t have had half the success without this guy. He has put this organization on his back every year. Never complains, loves it here, a loyal guy who has bled Ranger Blue through and through. What in the **** are we going to get for him at 37 that would justify trading him? And would those “assets” be more valuable than having Hank here with Allaire, mentoring the young goalies? And having Hank in that room, a true leader, to guide these young kids?

Some of you are relentless. Like robots. Trade everyone over 27. Even trade the guy who is the face of the Rangers.

No. Sorry to ruin your master plans. This guy gets to decide what he wants to do with his future. He earned that right.

I hope he stays and wins a cup even if its as a backup.

Hasek won his cups @ 37 & 43 for reference.

Kudos on the post.

Part of me would love to see what Lundqvist could do on good team.

We became used to him putting teams on his back and making them legit contenders. While that’s not likely to happen with this bunch, I think he would do very well for himself on a legit contender.

Having said that, he isn’t going anywhere and I don’t see the return being worth asking him to change his mind.

If he does that on his own, so be it. But I don’t really see the Rangers pushing it. Nor should they.

Hank can do whatever he wants, IMO. If he wants to stay, then that's great. If he wants to go to try to pursue a cup and has gotten tired of losing, that's great I completely understand. He's rightfully more than earned it.

He has been a great Ranger and made a lot of money . He never won a Cup...but the same fate was shared by many others before him and there will be many after ...the nature of the beast . I think when there are 3 goalies at camp next year a decision will be made that works for everyone . These guys are pros and they know the drill and what is happening...Hank does not have his head stuck in the sand ...he will do what is best for the team and he will be compensated for doing so . I can't see him playing anywhere else in NA.

Only dogs like Torts. And I bet we could still find a smart one or two that’d bite him.

You're not wrong about Lundqvist and his future, @RangerBoy, but I don't understand why you keep beating this dead horse. You sound like his agent or his entourage trying to manipulate his choices. He doesn't read here and you aren't going to influence his thoughts. So why?

This path, taken or not, will start when Lundqvist approaches Gorton. No one is going to broach the subject with him. It's just the way it is. If you're frustrated, I get it. But it's a drag to see Henrik become morose about this and you almost seem to revel in his misery because it's one step closer to a conditional 5th rounder.

It's like bringing up "1 cup in 80 years." Yeah, its pathetic but there is nothing we can do about it. There's no debate.

The issue isn't just whether Henrik would move or not--there's another problem and that's finding a team that's willing to take on a 38 year old goaltender with a $8.5 mil cap hit. That's a lot of cap hit and additionally most of the best teams don't have a lot of cap space and most of the best teams already have really good goaltending. I don't think the options are really there for him on a contending team.

Get me some Fox (not for any 1st rounders though). Rangers land Byram in the draft and the future of this Dcore changes. Depth chart:

Byram - Fox
Miller - ADA
Lindgren/Hajek/Rykov - Lundkvist

I’d laugh in Carolina’s face if they ask for a 1st

Fox has made it apparent where he wants to be, take what you can get or lose him for nothing

I think the Rangers could find a taker, no issue, for Hank. They may have to take a contract or retain some cap but there are more than a few teams who would jump at that as their window is now.

Can someone remind me of the last time LeBrun broke something or got something right? He's also a well documented Ranger hater.

LeBrun doing the Hurricanes bidding, if the Rangers offered pick 37, no way that gets it done, but that Jets pick that squints would be 28 right now would, get out of here Pierre.

We have three potential seconds to work with (two of which can become firsts)

It’s not necessarily 37. It could be Tampa or Dallas’ second.

The Rangers shouldn’t offer any of those.
I’d be fine with something where they get the lowest pick between the two, and if both end up 1st rounders, next year’s 2nd.

Getting Fox here next season for a 2nd is a good deal for the Rangers IMO. I don’t think he’s a lock stud like some do, but he’s definitely worth the risk. Very good upside there.
