I’ll take a first and take the contract whether he can play or not. I’d just need to see his no trade list and figure out where he goes next.

Weapon that cap space.

Does Vegas need to shed the entire Dadonov contract or could they retain? I wonder if a 3rd team could eat some cap. If yes, and the Rangers could get the player for $3m or under, I’d consider it for a 1st
We can't afford Dadonov next year and other teams know it. We'd get bent over in any trade trying to move him in the summer. Whatever we gained by taking him, we'd losing trying to get rid of him.

If Vegas decides to trade Smith instead, then we can get involved.

And yes, Vegas needs to move his entire cap hit (or Smith's). They need just under 5 mil in cap space to activate Martinez.

Pretty sure the whole thing. He's at $5MM and they have to clear $4.8M for Martinez to be activated off LTIR.

I don’t think we can count on Kakko giving anything for the remainder of this season. I’m perplexed by the lack of transparency about his status. It’s not going well.

If I’m reading it right, Rooney is also likely done. I would prefer to have Brodzinski over Hunt, Hunt over McKegg, with Gauthier permanently buried. That ship has sailed. Reaves can be inserted for the appropriate and occasional divisional matchup.

Copp, Vatrano, Trouba are all ‘94 born. Hmm…

Does anyone think Lundkvist. could return a 1st at the draft? Similar to Rundblad did years ago. Would a team like Buff/CBJ (both seem to need RH shooting D next season) take Lundkvist for one of their mid round 1sts if Lambert does slide into the teens? Would NYR need to add? If so how much do you think?

I think one option will be, Vegas will just ask the players on LTIR to stay hurt until the playoffs start. The NHL will just say they are not going to be medical arbitrators.

However given Vegas' tenuous playoff position, they may have to find a trade, I assume Dadonov is moved with whatever sweetener(s) it takes (like the original, now voided deal) to a team not on his no trade list and he just will not play until next year.

As long as Tarasenko 2.0 is available with our pick, sign me up.

I would like to see what Artemi - Copp - Strome looks like. For a couple reasons, first, I think that this line would just flat out work. Copp can actually win draws to gain us more possession and Copp will be defensively responsible enough to allow Artemi and Strome to do their thing. I would also like to see how Artemi/Copp chemistry looks, if there is any thought in keeping Copper and letting Strome walk after the season. I actually think Strome would be even more effective offensively if he is playing the wing and doesn't have to worry about the added responsibility of playing center.

No, I’m pushing Strome out of the top six, permanently. Anything he gives on the third line is a bonus. I’m not counting on him for anything other than his cherry picker empty net points.

I’ll go Copp and/or Vatrano in the top 6. Hell, I’ll go Chytil in one of those spots before I look at Strome again, I am done. 100% Final answer.

His value is higher in part of a package for someone rather than a mid-1st when the Rangers will likely still have their own pick in that round anyway.

Hoping we can re-sign Motte. I think him and Blais would be absolutely destructive together. Put Goodrow between them and use them as a hard banging shutdown third line that can chip in some goals.

Kreider-Zbad-Laf
Panarin-Copp-Kakko
Motte-Goodrow-Blais
Hunt-Rooney-Reaves

Not sure if this works cap wise. Or if Copp would work at 2C. Or if our bottom 6 will generate enough offense.
that bottom 6 would be worse than what we had pre-deadline lol

I think this summer they deal for a 2C with Lindgren being the primary NHL roster player piece (and $3M cap offset), Othmann and picks. Replace Lindgren internally or with veteran pylon du jour on a 1 yr deal.

As a result I don't think the cap crunch will be as bad as we think.

12Mish + Chytil or whatever you get for him for 2C, 3C, backup goalie, and 3 wings. You can get there fairly easily. The question is can you squeeze Copp in there too.

Copp can take faceoffs on the 2nd line, should help with potentially not getting pinned in their own zone after Strome loses a faceoff. Allows them to also have one for each side of the ice (Strome right, Copp left).

Mika/Kreider will take draws on the other line and Goodrow will take the 3rd line draws. That 4th line is a real energy line. All can skate and all have a good skill level.

I hope it helps with setting things up on faceoffs.

Still do not understand why Laffy is being punished.

brain dead.

Made a great play on the goal in the 1st last game...I don't see it. Gallant taking the easy way out.

Generously I will say that he must see something particularly off with Laf's defensive game, and wants to match the Zibanejad line up with Crosby's.
