Scapegoating Lafreniere is some dumb shit.

He did the same thing with Kakko as soon as he started clicking offensively with Panarin-Strome.

I don't get it.

Maybe Gallant wants to give Lafreniere a chance to drive a line rather than be a passenger. Who is to say it isn’t a show of confidence rather than a demotion just because of line numbers?

Hundreds of paper cuts. 😈
You guys to gangsta' for me. Then again, I am a cook/chef. I'd use a Cook's knife.......the biggest/sharpest one. lol.
I'm just looking forward to a healthy NYR team.

Lots of options...cut Strome and keep the others.

Kreider - Zib - Laf
Panarin - Copp - Kakko
Chytil - Goodrow - Vatrano
Blais - Rooney - Motte/Reaves
Just remember, "the others" were the bad guys in the ABC series "LOST".

This is what I said after he moved Kakko. I don't buy it anymore.

I like Gallant but I'm really doubting some of his decisions. Laf and Schneider have been great. Schneider should be on the 3rd pair and Laf should be on PP1 (over Strome).

The Goat! I hope we see him again, I don't really like our playing style at 5v5 and at least he brings some entertainment value even if he almost literally can't score

Like he did in the 3rd last game?

We need 3 lines to be a goal scoring threat, not just a "they kept it in the zone for 8 seconds with a decent fore check threat" or a "work hard" but legit "maybe they can score a goal every 2-3 games 5v5".

How does Gallant do that with this group? Is it possible?

Hey, I’m just spitballing. I know it’s likely a demotion for Lafreniere’s poor defense last game. Specifically his lack of compete level on the first and third NJ goals last game. Especially the first goal (the one where everyone only focused on the sloppy Fox turnover).

Probably right. Though we never see Strome (or really anyone else other than Chytil) getting that kind of treatment. Was it that egregious?

That would be nice, but I personally doubt. I like GG as a coach but he shows little confidence in kids. When they're down by goals he was playing Reeves line over Chytils. He's been benching Schneider instead of Nemeth/Braun when Schneider has great upside and has played better than Nemeth all season. Even though Nemeth has played well since his baby was born, I still think Schneidz played better. Also Fox, Kreider, Z all made bad plays that lead to goals. Now I don't expect him to bench them when they're down but why would you bench the kid who created the first goal by forcing a turnover. I hope you're right and that line gets a fair shake in terms of ice time cause I think it could be a fun line to watch.

The first goal was lack of compete level in my opinion. The third was just not really knowing where to be. Losing his man.

The entire team was ass last couple of games so I realize it’s not fair to single one player out…but this could be an ongoing discussion between Gallant and Lafreniere about defensive play, and two critical goals by the Devils when it was still a game may have pushed it this direction for Gallant.

It still represents an opportunity for Lafreniere to pick himself up by the bootstraps. Chytil and Goodrow are not Kreider and Zibanejad, but they aren’t talentless players either. Laffy can make some noise here.

Guys not sure why we even stress anymore about decisions like these? Been going on for years. Had no doubt Schneider would have to be the second coming of a peak Chris Pronger to get in over Nemeth or Braun. Also just happy Lafreniere isn't on the 4th line. Again not shocked he was demoted and not worth stressing about anymore. I gave up after I realized Laffy was never even gonna sniff 1st line pp time no matter how well he plays and how much like dog shit Strome plays.

Not talentless, but offensively the puck goes in...then it goes out. 9 times out of 10. I fear in reality it's a "breather" line for the top 6 and the 4th, to be honest.

Demoting Laf is dumb, but this is a pretty misleading interpretation of what happened with Kakko.

He was moved up to play with Kreider and Zib (and looked good with them until he started playing thru an injury) not down.
