really curious how much Kessel would cost? Since he's having a decent year I have absolutely no idea.
One thing is for sure I don't wanna make a trade where we have to give up Othmann/Berard or even Cuylle. Young forwards with some skill and a motor. These guys will be necessary cheap adds in 2 years.

Any chance we could nab Leddy as a rental to keep Nemeth off and have 3 competent pairs?
He's only 30 and would be an improvement over Nemeth for sure. A UFA so a complete rental. I'm sure the cost would be a prospect and a 2nd? or 2nd and a 3rd (2023)?

We're so quick to call everyone soft... how does Chytil continue to escape?

Its my biggest complaint about him, he's not a small kid but he has no push back in him. I saw a play last week where a guy road him into the wall, the guy held him there, he didnt try and get away from the guy, not pushing, no F you buddy, nothing. He stayed there for about 5 seconds while the play went toward our end. He will get even smaller in playoffs, i think we should be moving on from him personally.

If you had Lindgren and Chychrun on the left side, that’s 48 very minutes. What you need is a dependable third pair player. That is what Nemeth was supposed to be.

I’d love Leddy as a rental but he will be expensive. Maybe Detroit would like Nemeth back?

When I think about improving our roster through trades, I am all on board for trading picks or redundant prospects for long term needs.
I would also be happy about using this year’s large remaining cap space to take on contending teams expiring cap dumps for picks and prospects so those teams can join this year’s TDL arms-race.
I don’t feel comfortable paying a premium for acquiring players like J.T. Miller or similar properties.
Looking forward, we would need to beat 3 of the following 7 teams in a seven game series. Boston, Toronto, Tampa Bay, Florida, Pittsburgh, Washington and Carolina just for the right to play Vegas or Colorado in another seven game series. That’s a tall order.
We have made strides as a team and benefited from the implosion of Philadelphia and Long Island. Let’s hope we don’t stray off our mission path on some fool’s errand.

They also produced more and got less ice time than Laf and Kakko and somehow weren't destroyed by it.

lol wat

2:20 and 2:36 per game in their first three seasons. Compared to 1:42 for Kakko and 1:20 for Laf. Definitely more, but I'm sure they would have gotten their PP time cut too if they went hundreds of minutes without a PP point.

bruh, Lafreniere's at 122 total after 8 months of NHL games.

Kakko produced exceptionally on the PP and had his time cut.

Bolded is a great f***ing idea. As long as the contract space works out just stack more assets and then use those to help you get what you need as well.

I think Miller+ for Chychrun is a risk worth taking. Obviously the plus is important in this conversation and so is the aspect of retention. Would Miller+Kravtsov+1 or something to that effect be enough to get them to retain or is that something that they would need just to make the trade happen without retention? It's an important question.
i think the whole point of getting Chychrun is so we can run Chychrun - Lindgren - Miller on our left side, and slide Lindgren and Miller down . Lindgren really isnt a top pair guy and Miller could use easier matchups

I don't think they would break up Lindgren-Fox, so it would be moving Miller down perhaps. Doesn't seem like they are in on him anymore though so we will see

Whatever is going on with Nemeth I hope it's nothing serious. It's odd that he takes two weeks off for personal reasons, comes back, and is now out again. I hope neither he or a family member is seriously ill.

Maybe if it's serious enough he goes on LTIR and steps away from the game for a bit.

Giroux's #'s this season... pretty impressive analytics considering how shit Philly is.

I'll repeat it here. Giroux becomes very interesting if he is 'looking to win' and signs at an absurd low rate in the off-season. $1.5-2M per ( yes I know he's worth more )

Kreider Zibs Panarin
Laffy Strome Giroux
Lehkonen Goodrow Kakko
Rooney Barron Reaves/Hunt

Lindgren Fox
Chycrun Trouba
KAM Schneider

how about them apples?

that's about as 'going for it' as you can get.

out- ( close your eyes mas ) Chytil, Kravtsov, Nils, Hajek, Gauthier, 2023 1st, 2022 2nds + other mid tier prospect(s)

Lafreniere: 0 PP points in 128:50 gets him 1:20 out of 5:00 of the Rangers PP time per game (27%)
Kakko: 18 PP points in 256:37 gets him 1:42 out of 5:08 of the Rangers PP time per game (33%)
Daniel: 30 PP points in 543:25 gets him 2:20 out of 8:16 of the Canucks PP time per game (28%)
Henrik: 37 PP points in 628:26 gets him 2:36 out of 8:16 of the Canucks PP time per game (29%)

I don't think our guys come off as hard done by in this comparison.

How expensive you think? We have a stable of young d-men that are more on Detroit’s timeline.
