I think I agree with Vince. The bottom 6 might as well not even exist as currently constructed. Putting Laf there is about the closest you’ll come to having a scorer in it. Shame he’ll get sucked into the Chytil black hole and not produce while there.

Why's Kreider not practising?

Gotta say I was fully behind trading Buchnevich to make room financially and physically for Laf and Kakko to be top 6 players. When I see Dryden Hunt and Goodrow (who I love but should be a staple on third line) playing in the top 6 instead? Makes it really difficult to be happy.

Maybe it’s just me but I’d rather keep Laf on the 1st line where he’s been playing well and gain some traction than demote him to a third line where’s sucked

Getting Lafs confidence up in exchange for a crappy 3rd line is a trade I’m willing to make
Laf had I think the 5th lowest ice time on the team on Sunday. To think that Gallant really liked him there and thinks he can build off that to create a competent 3rd line is some very high-level wishcasting.

what else do we have at this point?

like who?

Hajek, Goat, Georgiev for sure. I would also include Chytil and Krav in this, but I know people get upset cause they were drafted by us and are young. Need to turn these players into something useful sooner rather then later. Especially when later keeps looking like their value will become waiver fodder.

EDIT: Also, I am beginning to wish for the end of Dryden Hunt on this team. He is nothing special that McKegg, Brod, Greco and Gettinger didn't do just as well.

If it looks like they will be waiver fodder to us, what do you think other teams see?

The first 3 you mentioned probably have no value other than being throw-ins in any trade, but the time is now to deal Chytil & Kravtsov. Kravtsov probably goes with a pick for a solid rental forward and i think Chytil gets moved for a deBrusk/Lehkonen type. I am completely fine with both outcomes

because Gourde can replace Strome as 2C past next year. That money he makes is doable. Miller we won’t be able to keep past next year.

and I want Miller don’t get me wrong but gourde would imo be a better fit for this run and over the next few years. I think Strome is going to price out.

Fair enough - but at the expense of Lundkvist, Kravtsov, Chytil and a 1st? Not sure

chytil is the only guy on that list I care about. Honestly. Even the first is going to be a late one.

Lol so Nils is a throw in? I understand you wanting a really good center to take the #2 spot but im not giving up all that for Yanni Gourde. Giving up all of that should be able to get us a player of Larkins caliber. Who is younger better and fits the team timeline. Thats a shitload to give up for Gourde. I know alot of people here like him but he is not someone you give up the farm for. He is also 30 years old.

Friedman says on 32T that he thinks NYR will "try to do something big". They are not eager to move 24 or 13.

"They are not eager" f***ing scares me. It should be "is a non-starter". Given Drury's track record so far, I would not be at all surprised if he torpedoes our teams future.

Drury's resume so far is a mixed bag, but he hasnt made a single trade that sent out a prospect or high draft pick. Theres not a move out there that torpedoes the teams future, outside of trading Fox or Igor. Why does everything need to be so dramatic here?

Because everything is either on fire or perfect and there’s no in between

Because its the HF board and everybody here, with an opinion is capable of holding the position of an NHL General Manager.........and they can all build a stanley cup contender if you just did it their way, duh !

I know you're being sarcastic, but my Eastside Hockey Manager franchise won 6 Cups in a row including a 16-0 playoff run. I know what I'm talking about.

Laf-Chytil-Gauthier is quite literally my least favorite Rangers line in terms of chemistry since MSL-Brassard-Zuccarello

It just don't work.

That line would work better with Lafreniere taking on the finisher role, but Chytil & Gauthier's sticks are where offense goes to die.
