He's fine as a 12/13F.

He has no business on a line with the guy we are paying $80 million dollars to

Im a Gallant fan because he's done a lot for the culture, but my God does Drury need to take his toys away. Im begging for an NHL caliber RW(or two) so we dont need to keep talking about Dryden Hunt & Barclay Goodrow (who has been very good) in the top 6. Its hasnt worked but not for lack of trying

So my only positive thought is that maybe he thinks Laf is playing better and wants him to now start controlling play entirely on the third line and bring Chytil up to his level.

that’s it that’s all I’ve got.

I think I agree with Vince. The bottom 6 might as well not even exist as currently constructed. Putting Laf there is about the closest you’ll come to having a scorer in it. Shame he’ll get sucked into the Chytil black hole and not produce while there.

This tracks with what Gallant did yesterday when he moved Goodrow down out of necessity. At least he has identified the problem that the bottom 6 is killing them, but it doesnt mean we have to be happy with how hes going about solving it lol

Trade the two Gs for another Groodrow type player.. we are still very soft team in the top 9 forwards.. the only real toughness on D is trouba.. lindgren is two small to protect Fox from the pounding That put on IR.

Friedman says on 32T that he thinks NYR will "try to do something big". They are not eager to move 24 or 13.

They can definitely do something big without moving either guy. KAM/Laf/Kakko/Schneider are dealbreakers for me. That could change in the offseason, but right now there is nothing out there that would entice me to move any of those 4.

Kravtsov/Chytil/Lundkvist/Jones/1st/2 2nds/Georgiev/Hajek/Gauthier is more than enough ammo.

I am more than happy to overpay for Gourde and let Strome walk after self renting.

Giordano I don’t think is worth the price for this franchise and where we are right now/where his game is right now. If the price were right I’d be fine with it, but I imagine the cost will outweigh the value for us.

Gourde, I would absolutely be okay with “losing” the trade value wise, as that value would be magic beans that either could/couldn’t reach their potential and Gourde would fit like a glove.

Lafreniere-Gourde-Goodrow could do exactly what Tampa did with Coleman. I just don't know what Seattle is doing and if theyd be willing to move him. They do have a ton of guys who cold help us and will presumably be selling.

For the right, exceptional young star-upside guy, especially at C, I'd also consider moving KAM.
BUT I know such guys, like say Petterson or Byfield, aren't often available

The reason I listen to podcasts is so my brain is occupied so there's no chance of accidentally self-reflecting.

Why wouldn't we just go after JT Miller with that package. I would go after Gio if we were 2 years ahead in our rebuild but realistically we are not quite there yet. I think a lot of us here understand we are not cup contenders this season. Theres no reason to empty the cupboards right now for a 38 year old dman for a playoff push when we aren't ready for it yet

because Gourde can replace Strome as 2C past next year. That money he makes is doable. Miller we won’t be able to keep past next year.

and I want Miller don’t get me wrong but gourde would imo be a better fit for this run and over the next few years. I think Strome is going to price out.

Maybe it’s just me but I’d rather keep Laf on the 1st line where he’s been playing well and gain some traction than demote him to a third line where’s sucked

Getting Lafs confidence up in exchange for a crappy 3rd line is a trade I’m willing to make
The same logic as moving Kakko when he got going.

The same blind hope that 'this time will be different'

Have bottom6 players playing with our top talent when Laffy has shown to be playing his best hockey with them.

There's no excuse imo
