I half agree with your assessment. Huge player for us in the ‘14 and ‘15 playoffs.

His return from injury in ‘14 essentially turned the Pittsburgh series around, along with St. Louis’ mom dying.

He’s been a key playoff player for us before, I see no reason to believe he can’t do it again.
I've been waiting years to prove to my friends that Kreider will be a playoff beast for us. He's done it before and it looks like he will roll the scoring right into the playoffs this season.

Also, Tolstoy and Lincoln would be friends in real life.

Break is coming at a good time. Lots of injuries. Might be rough sledding the last two games, they will look better in the second half.
I am truly not trying to start a fight here but I am genuinely curious - what about how this team has played so far this year makes you believe that anything is going to change? Is Greg McKegg going to not be taking a regular shift anytime soon?

Crouse is less-snakebit Gauthier, but he's not good. 0 PPG in half a season. Do not target, no one would care if he wasn't a former 11th overall pick.

I know it's a weird comparison, but Zac Jones plays in the way that I wish Laffy would. Obviously not in play style since they are completely different positions, but Jones has the guts to make plays. He puts his balls on the line seemingly every shift...and last night we saw him make some incredible plays and also make some really boneheaded mistakes. That's all amazing for a young player though, that's information that can help them learn to be effective in the NHL. If Laffy isn't going to put everything on the line, and take some risks to make plays, he's not going to advance, learn, grow. He always makes the safe play, but in turn he's giving away the ability to offer the team anything substantial. He just becomes another body out there. Sometimes I feel like he's just submissive, he'll see an opposing player and think "ok I guess I'll give the puck up now" and throws it into an area. That's the play he makes 90% of the time. That's not enough for us, and it's not going to be enough for him to stick around long term. It's time to see more risk taking, and if mistakes come with it, well, that's actually a good thing.

Less than Zac Jones, Lafreniere needs some Neal Pionk YOLO shit to his game. Plays way, way, way too safe and then falls down anyway.

Honestly everyone talks about Chychrun or Hertl or Reily Smith, but how about a deadline like Sather used to do from 2006-2009? Nothing too bonkers just add some depth and speed.

I'm perfectly fine with adding a modern version of Frederik Sjostrom or a low key guy who can create energy and skate. A subtle move like that could have a domino on the lineup.

It's not the the year to go all in. This team has one injury and it completely derails their depth.

Lehkonen. Two way energy guy, crazy workethic, three lungs, best underlying stats on the Habs (forwards). Only problem is Gorton sitting up there laughing his arse off.

The team has been healthy and McKegg has been in the lineup over guys like Barron. Gallant is “loyal to his guys. He ain’t going anywhere. When Kakko comes back he’s still gonna be on the 4th line and you know that.

I just to prefer to be optimistic than pessimistic, especially about things I have no control over. It puts me in a better place mentally, physically, everywhere.

I'd take a flyer on a guy like Roussell. I know he's cooked but sometimes guys have one last ride or they can do one thing like forecheck and it will help.

A perfect example in Rangers history is Wilf Paiement. He was cooked beyond cooked when the Rangers got him in 1986 but all he had to do was dig out pucks for Ridley-Miller and it helped for that Cinderella run.

After watching that bottom 6 worse than any Tortorella Sather ere jam grind jam grit and fisticuff bottom 6

For sure, but it’s just not the POs. There have been many big regular season games too, games that get out of hand physically, periods when we just need something/anything.

With a 2 week break in February it would be ideal time to pull trigger on a deal so as to have a mini training camp
dont think there will be much if any hockey operations going on. It'd be a long break, guys probably taking vacations

I guess I just prefer to be realistic and honest. It’s not like the pessimism isn’t based in reality and doesn’t have an incredible amount of evidence to back it up.

I get it. For me, I prefer to be optimistic than right when it comes to sports. There’s nothing at stake with being wrong here. @Thirty One has taught me that.

If that were the case I'd still be watching the New York Jets the past 3-4 seasons.

I get both aspects. The 1st period was bliss. The 2nd was unwatchable. The game is played, predominantly for our entertainment. If it's not entertaining to you, you shouldn't watch

No you’re right there is nothing at stake here, other than whether or not Were wasting the precious free time we all have watching our favorite team embarrass themselves multiple nights in a row. I’m not gonna stop watching, because fandom isn’t all roses all the time. You can be honest with how your team is actually playing and discuss that aspect of it. This team needs to change the way they play and fast. They got too used to winning the wrong way early on and have developed bad habits from it. I’ve seen this one before - it’s called “Henruk’s career.” I don’t About you but to me that’s frustrating and part of being a fan is being about to criticize something like that.

I think you will find that a lot of posters, including myself, generally agree with your views. Poll the board and a lot of us will acknowledge this is most likely a one and done playoff team with a lot of holes and a few more years of growth to go. But who wants to be hit over the head with that reality every day? Especially when the team could end up pleasantly surprising us anyway.
