Why? He’s effectively paced for 30 every year since he’s had the blood clot (3 years) until this year when he actually broke the mark.
I have no doubt that Kreider easily could have his best 3.4 years in front of him. Its not even that rare for players to hit their prime later in their 30's, even if it of course is not the norm.
With that said, for me it just comes down to that when this team needs someone to step up the most -- Kreider cannot be the one that is seen the least. And unfortunately, that has been the case many many times before.
And just like nobody cared about Rick Nash insane start in the regular season when he couldn't buy a goal in the POs, things will turn fast on Kreider if he doesn't deliver when it matters.
With that said, I am not saying that Kreider -- will not -- deliver when it matters the most. Just that we have seen him not do it before. Never do it before really.
