Where did I say that? If the Rangers are replacing Kreider for next year they need to replace an expected 25-30 goals not an expected 45 goals. If you're expecting him to score at a 45 goal pace next year your expectations are outrageous.
No, but it would be proof we cant develop young offensive talent...Kakko and Laf being this bad is already a huge black eye. I'd be happy for them if they took off elsewhere, proof that we didn't make the wrong choice
At this point I think everyone would be disappointed if he doesn't crack 40 this yearAs mentioned he is pacing for 55. Is it ridiculous to expect 35-40 going forward?
The ONLY benefit that he has as the person who trades them is that he isnt the person who drafted them. He can move them and in some ways try to blame Grots for drafting them (even though they were the clear choices at their spots). It would be an EXTREMELY high-risk move for Drury to trade either, from a personal standpoint. If they go out and also do what Buch is doing, that has Mike Milbury career-killing potential.
If I'm Laf I'm begging Gallant to play me at RW, I mean if it's that much of an issue he shouldn't have been #1 overall and everybody I mean everybody got it wrong. I'm a big believer in him that he will be a big time player but he's so humble, he needs to see this RW hole as an opportunity and grab it. Make management feel that he is worth holding on to. Otherwise have fun playing in a blackhole like Vancouver or Arizona. I'd much rather play my offside for a winner than play my strong side for a perennial loser.
Outrageous is a bizarre way to explain that, considering he's actually on pace for 55, halfway through the season. He's not getting lucky bounces either. He's been a streaky player his whole career and all of a sudden he's become Mr. Reliable. It may seem odd to some, but power forwards hitting their prime in their late 20's is actually more common then you think. Do I think he'll be a perennial 50 goal scorer? No, but to expect to only need to replace 25 a season going forward is just as "outrageous" in my opinion.
Lets get JT Miller and corner the market with left wings.I mean. Yeah. But what if the Habs, for whatever reason, prefer Laf to Wright/Savoie? Or Bedard next year (unlikely). This whole LW and being buried on the depth chart thing doesn’t seem to be going away…
Upper body for Fox?
Maybe he jammed his wrist on the wall. Didnt look like much.
One of our guys could be dead and Gallant would still say day to day lmao
I like you thinking outside the box. What do you think he returns?I'm going to get jumped on for this but I don't think its implausible that Kreider gets moved this summer.
Andrew Copp seems like a pretty clear choice at center given what the team is looking for. Great 3rd line center that could make a hell of a line with Goodrow and Lehkonen. ;-)
What happen to Nemeth? Is he on IR? I read somewhere he is not on the rosterThe easiest solution is finding a trade partner for Nemeth. I would not be opposed to seeing is someone would be looking to swap a 3rd/4th line type with him on a similar deal. Helps with some issues up front in terms of depth and allows the young LHD in the system the chance to come up.
This is where my focus would be. Get these two up front, and then add a rental defenseman (McNabb, Leddy?) and call it a day.
You would likely move out both 2nds and a mid tier prospect or two in this scenario and I think it addresses our more pressing concerns anyway.
Lafreniere Zibanejad Kreider
Panarin Strome Kakko
Lehkonen Copp Goodrow
Hunt Rooney Gauthier
Reaves/McKegg
Lindgren Fox
Miller Trouba
McNabb Schneider
Hajek/Jones
I think from a quantitative point of view, it's fair to say outrageous, but you have to look at qualitative aspects as well. I mentioned some of them previously, but you also have to consider that he's playing on a top PP unit in the NHL and getting most of his goals from the premier PP QB in the world right now, who is only getting better. Further, so many of his goals come from 2 ft in front of the net, he's not shooting from the outside this season. Hes deflecting and banging pucks into open nets. Can definitely explain some of why his shooting % is so high. I get your point, and I see what you're saying from a quantitative perspective, but that's only a piece of the picture. He's shooting 37% at 5v4.
Between 2015-16 and 2019-2020 10 forwards shot at least 37% at 5v4 in a season with at least 100 minutes. Haula, Miller, Perron, Strome, Zucker, Pageau, Zacha, Little, Vermette, Marchand, Zajac.
In their first year they were a combined 72 for 174 - 41%.
In the year after they were a combined 41 for 245 - 17%.
Yea I'd call it outrageous.
As mentioned he is pacing for 55. Is it ridiculous to expect 35-40 going forward?
Why? He's been on a 30 goal pace several times in his career. Staying healthy long enough to get it has been the problem.Absolutely, yes.
I would be absolutely shocked if he gets 30 or better next year
Why? He’s effectively paced for 30 every year since he’s had the blood clot (3 years) until this year when he actually broke the mark.Absolutely, yes.
