A big problem on the mains is that people see prospect ranks as apples to apples. The consensus is that Miller will cost your #1 or #2 prospect. Not everyone's #1 prospect is Alexis Lafreniere.

See: Gleyber Torres Fallacy

To be fair, Lafreniere has not played well consistently yet so he's going to be undervalued

Nemeth is a wait and see for me. Playing way below his previous level, missing a bunch of games for personal reasons, radio silence from the team and the press (which there should be if the guy needs his privacy). From a distance it looks bad, hope he's okay, hope he gets it sorted out. For the Rangers, by the time the playoffs start we'll have a better option for the third pair, whether it's Nemeth himself or not.

Big Matthew Tkachuk related article on the Athletic today. The Rangers were mentioned twice, the first time as a destination Tkachuk would be interested in signing (along with Vegas, Dallas, Nashville, St. Louis) and also a tidbit about the Rangers inquiring abut him last summer and the asking price being 2 firsts and a good established NHLer.

I doubt the Flames make him available, the article hints that they are content to potentially right it out and try to win the next 2 years, but thats a guy you move heaven and earth to acquire

He's been horrendous I really don't know what you are talking about. Unexpectedly because he was a decent player before this season, but it's not working out. Giving him 3 years was stupid too when you can find comparable defenseman for much cheaper.
He’s been exactly what I expect out of a veteran 3rd pairing guy. People were living looney toons world if they actually thought Gallant was going to go into the season with an all rookie bottom pair

Like I said, he’s overpaid but it’s whatever. Among my worries he’s towards the bottom

Matthews has two years left after this one as well.

Unless Kreider magically evaporates off the cap and Strome signs elsewhere, there’s a zero percent chance they can afford to pay Tkachuk what I assume will be upwards of 8-9 million a season

I think the Nemeth deal is fine. They gave him an extra year to make sure he signed here. He’s overpaid but that’s what happens when UFA comes about

If they need to get rid of him they’ll be able too. Idk why people hate on him so hard, he’s overpaid but he’s been fine in his role

it would be fine if he was a good 6th, he isn’t.

Strome on a reasonable deal isn’t the issue. Keep him at or below $5.5m and that’s a good contract. He can slide to RW if needed and he plays in all situations. Let me know when the Rangers young players become 60 point players and I’ll be more inclined to moving some of these vets.

I hear you, but the concern isn't just about keeping Kakko, Laf, Chytil, it's about being able to keep Miller, Schneider, and any other young player who develops well.

Otherwise, the hell did we trade Buch for.

I wouldn't move Laf for a deadline acquisition. If it's for a long term piece in the offseason that's a different story but even then I have a lot of trepidation under that circumstance as well. Of course all possibilities are still on the table. He may end up finalizing as a player far below expectations but his pedigree is far too good to already determine he's trade fodder. He was too much of a consensus first overall pick for him to not be given more time to prove what he'll become. He deserves more time first.

And are we moving out Kreider or Trouba, or both?

What long term piece? I could count like 10 in the league.

Ignore your feelings about trading Schneider.

Do you guys think Drury would consider it for Miller? Id like to think no. But idk what to think
