That's why I think Drury holds onto him. We can't give away another top10 pick.
If they believe he can become a good player, keep him. Figure out the nonsense. If they don't know, maybe he's worth a couple 2nds or a big part of a JTM package
I doubt holding him, especially for too long is even in the cards.
If your management, not just Drury, but anyone in the FO. You’ve already been burned twice by this kid. Pretty obvious he does not want to go to the AHL at all.
As it sits you have an asset that has a slim to none possibility of ever being on the permanent roster.
Why take the gamble and hold him too long in hopes of further diminishing his value???
It’s just not smart business. It kravtsov stumbled in the KHL, I’d say sure. Hold his rights and try to see if he puts it together for 1 more year in the K.
He’s pumped his value a bit, but it’s still a risk to the team that’s trading for him.
His value isn’t close to being as high as him just going 9OA and likely won’t be again. Not while he’s ranger property anyway.
It’s just not smart business to bet on him coming back at risk of pissing off other prospects, or having him leave again and then his value would be dirty toilet water.
Odds are they”ll likely try to deal him ASAP to get the highest possible return.
The trust/respect between player and management is destroyed. And there’s absolutely no signs it’s even gotten a hair better.
this really isn’t a Puj situation. It almost mirrors the lias situation with krav having better tools/higher ceiling and maybe a worse attitude.
The smart move would be to try and include him in a TDL package ASAP before another offseason of drama, and a possibility he could play poorly or get injured.
I don’t see how staying in the KHL can make his value any higher then it is now when he’s a year older and further removed from NA hockey
