I mean, if they do all become elite, then paying them with Panarin’s 10-11 on the books will be a problem

Not with Hanks 8.5m, Shattys 6.6m, Staals 5.7m, Names 4m and Smiths 4.3m. That's 29.1m without any Cap increases added. We're the only team in the league that doesn't pay a bonafide superstar.

Cap will not be a problem anytime soon.

Because the Rangers already have a slew of promising up and coming players. Including Shesty, Kravtsov and Buch in the system and ready to make an impact. Rangers also have a ton of cap and if the Rangers draft Hughes, Kakko or Podkolzin. Rangers expedite the rebuild substantially.

Islanders say "come here, we have the money too and our team is ready right now"

Again, why does he come here?

Replace Islanders with Florida, Dallas, Philly, etc.

A myth, no, but the idea of signing Panarin and expecting some of these guys to be studs right away is definitely misguided. Guys like Miller, Chytil, and Kravstov likely won’t be true impact players for at least 2 to 3 years.

Sure. We can only hope at this point.

The 3 young guys that got longer looks this season - Chytil, Howden, and Andersson, have been horrific.

Yes indeed. The Rangers bottom 6 is so strong, in fact, that they are moving Smith back and forth between D and 4th line winger.

Im not saying it has to be Boyle, but the team would be wise to bring on some cheap veterans for a year or two. We are at a point where the organization really has to consider that their 3 young centers (Chytil, Howden, and Andersson) are actually regressing. Brooks has a recent article showing that those 3 have produced exactly 1 goal in their last 88 combined games. That's staggering. Somtimes being young and hungry ain't enough

I agree and think Chytil and LA were rushed. Even still, where we are now. We have plenty of guys who can be NHL 4th liners. We don't have problems with vets. Hank, Staal, Zib, Kreider, Shatty and Fast is plenty of presence.

Chytil, Howden and LA are all expected to make pretty big jumps. Mature, Learn and work hard. They will be NHL'r next year without a doubt and will start on the big club.

You're moving the goal posts. I personally see Lou throwing bags of money at him and see the Isles as a legitimate destination..

BUT the NYR need to be involved and go after him. It doesn't mean he will come here..

Lol are you Boyle? Only he believes this.

He can and has played on the 3rd line in NJ at times as a winger. He's not a permanent 3rd liner but he is better than a 4th liner. He's on pace for 28 points while being a prime PKer and having the versatility to play wing or center.

Fast was on pace over 82 games for 25 points.

Vesey is on pace for 38 over 82 games.

Namestnikov is on pace for 32 points over 82 games.

All of these guys have played all over the line-up from the 4th line to the top-line at times. It's not always about points but who compliments who.

Like I said, I'd trade any of all of the guys above and sign a guy like Boyle to a higher cap hit deal for 1 or 2 years and be good with it.

Again, Russian connection. Big City. Deep prospect pool. Plenty of money.

It's never a sure thing to try and entice a FA, or say you'll land him. However, when you have one of his caliber and it just so happens you have a shit ton of cap space. You at least try.

The Islanders team isn't any more ready than the Rangers. They are a bad team that is fluking their way to a good year.

Philly seems like a good fit though.

Optics are everything, they're 26 points ahead in the standings.

Plus, this Rangers team is so awful right now.

All applies to the Islanders, PLUS being now ready.

Ditto Florida. Less so Philly, but I don't think the Russian connection matters much to him.

They are this years version of the Devils except without the MVP candidate. They also have 3 important UFA and a ton of money sunk into 3rd/4th liners. They can easily have a worse roster next year. They might be really bad.
