Imagine trading Miller because he didn't get along with a coach you fired shortly after.
Miller admitted he was not very mature in NY. He had maturity issues at the US national program. The trade to TB was a wake up call for Miller. Ryan Callahan said Miller matured as a person and player in TB. There was a good article in The Athletic a few days ago. It took him a while to figure it out.

This is a big piece to it. Also there are numerous teams that really do need to go for it. Colorado has to pay MacKinnon soon. Florida just extended Barkov, but Huberdeau is next. Tampa is pushing for a three-peat. Vegas had pressure to win.

My thing is what are the Pens and Caps waiting on. Obviously both are older, but are they not trying to push for this season. The Metro is the one division not making moves. It's like they know they can max out at the conference finals and it's over.
Pens have the refs in their pocket so that’s worth two trades.

I’m sure he grew as a person and all but the main reason his headline production increased was he was given more minutes overall including 2min more a game of PP time.

For all his growing pains he was really productive as an NYR especially 5v5. One of the best homegrown players I’ve seen in my lifetime even before his “breakout”. Ridiculous that Gorton gave him away for scraps.

Great article

Gorton for all the praise he has gotten now, really f***ed up multiple trades and then basically lucked into Kakko and laf

On the flip side most of you here bitch and moan about drury….guy has barely made any trades

Yeah but when your one big trade is the Buch trade and you don't have good big trades to counteract that trade then people only have that one bad trade to judge you on.

I wouldn't go to Colorado either. Adjusting to their air full-time in the middle of a season? No thank you.

That's an overlooked factor.

The guy actually broke a lot of news and yet... 2-3 really annoying posters decided to push back against him on every little thing and... voila! Why we can't have nice things here. I don't remember the names off the top of my head but there were some consistent posters poking at ever bit of news he got that didn't actually pan out.
And he was too nice to just start blocking idiots. He didn't believe in that. It's not his fault but it really is shitty that a handful of people f***ed this up for the rest of us...

Ehhh

Outside of McDonagh and maybe not trading Kreider, what did he drop the ball on?

Nash deal is one of the best trades of the last decade, Spooner for Strome (although I detest Strome) was a home run. Trouba trade has been a clear win

Jury is still out on Drury, we’ll have more data over the next few months

and anaheim retained? I don't think that is a great return and yes I know he's a UFA.

Anaheim got a 1st round, 2-2nd rounds, and a 23 yo former 1st round who will at worst improve their bottom pairing, but has #3/#4 potential for a pending UFA that was not re-signing.

You forgot brass for zib

What do they have to move though? They are old, still good, still have a chance, but not much going on prospect wise to trade, or am I wrong?
Not too many kicks at the can left. Is a 1st this year going to be good for them when OV and Sid are 3-4 years older? It's now or never for those teams

Domi would be so perfect for us, would replace that swagger & edge we lost in DeAngelo/Lemieux. He’s even got diabetes, maybe he would help Kakko

Pros:
- Good offensive skill
- Plays all forward positions
- Very tough
- Great skater
- Swagger/Charisma
- Has diabetes

Cons:
- Upcoming UFA (could be pro as we don’t worry about long cap hit)
- Might cost decent prospect/pick
diabetes and celiac are nothing alike.
