Supposedly the ask from Boston for Chychrun was 1st, Lysell, Jack Ahcan and something else I can't remember. Not sure if it's true but if it is the comparable would be like Othmann, Jones/Lundkvist, 1st, another piece I would assume.

That trade was made 4 deadlines ago. The market was what the market was. The market this year is clearly different, we were just unlucky in the timing. Comparing the returns makes no sense. Flat cap is inflating value of salary retention among other things.
This is a big piece to it. Also there are numerous teams that really do need to go for it. Colorado has to pay MacKinnon soon. Florida just extended Barkov, but Huberdeau is next. Tampa is pushing for a three-peat. Vegas had pressure to win.

My thing is what are the Pens and Caps waiting on. Obviously both are older, but are they not trying to push for this season. The Metro is the one division not making moves. It's like they know they can max out at the conference finals and it's over.

That was a weird day. It looked McDonagh was not being traded. Then the Rangers were trading McDonagh. The Rangers had issues with Miller. He missed a curfew and AV got mad at him. It seems the entire organization had no faith in him. TB immediately traded him to Vancouver one year later.

The Rangers didn't want to extend McDonagh and Miller.

The Nash trade was solid.

Imagine trading Miller because he didn't get along with a coach you fired shortly after.

Hey (this is not directed at you at all but just in general) remember when I said in here a 2024 1st would somehow be a part of the deal? And also that he was never getting traded to the Rangers?
I'll take the L on that...

Edit - but that said would not be super thrilled as a Flyers fan to have to wait 2 years to make that pick...seems like Florida was high on Giroux's list and therefore the Flyers to their credit accommodated his wishes

Word is that both Boston and Colorado had better offers for Claude G
The Flyers are lucky they got that much. Eric Staal was in the same position as Claude Giroux in 2016. Staal wanted to play for the Rangers. Ron Francis accepted Aleksei Sareela and 2nd round picks for Staal. He had a NMC/NTC. He controlled the situation. Carolina retained 50%.

So far Drury is doing ok. Let’s see what his next move is.

We weren’t an option for Giroux although it sounds like Drury was interested.

I don’t think Lindholm was realistic for where we are at vs the ask. That was a hefty price paid by Boston.

Copp is still a main target for us imo. I think there’s some others out there that aren’t being discussed at all like Pavel Zacha. Rackell is unlikely due to the unrealistic ask from ANA. Lekohnen maybe, but I don’t think we should be paying a premium with a 1st round pick for a 3rd line player that can fill in on the 2nd line as needed. No matter what his age is. Kessel. Crouse. Gourde is a dream. I know I am missing a few names here.

And then there is Patrick Kane.

Defense; Giordano — unlikely because a desperate Toronto will pay more. Leddy i like a lot. De Haan & Staal are depth options that can fight for the 6th spot with Nemeth.

We’ll see what happens.

Kane doesn't want to be traded if you believe Pagnotta. Not before the deadline.

Gotta figure Colorado is going to make another move, most likely at F. I think they will step up and get Copp when the time comes. Sakic seems to be patient and like he will wait for his price to be accepted.

Pagnotta also said as on the Panel about Lafreniere being traded before Larry Brooks jumped in.

But then again Pagnotta was also on the sirius panel at 12 noon today pumping the tires for the Patty Kane trade block rumors.

Idk what to believe anymore. Just hope Drury makes quality moves and doesnt overpay or completely mortgage the future

That's why I said if you believe him lol. He's been right on some things but eh. I tend to believe him about Kane though, but maybe he will feel differently on Monday when he sees another playoff run pass him by.
