Max Domi is the biggest fake tough guy in the league and he has less than 20 hits on the entire season. Dude just acts like he does to live up to his last name.

I swear no one on here watches him. Everyone just likes the idea of him but he’s really not what you think he is.

Yup. I don't get it. As @Machinehead (I think) put it, you're replacing Ryan Strome with a drastically worse Ryan Strome. I think even Strome has more of an edge to him than Domi does. Huge pass.

I am warming up to Patrick Kane. Get a 3rd team to retain a little salary as well. We have the extra picks to make that retention get to where we want it for next season.

Kane and Copp as the deadline acquisitions. Maybe Leddy if we can swing it.

If they acquire Rackell and Lafreniere ends up being moved to Chytil's wing, you know that line is going to have the lowest TOI of any in the lineup.

Really mixed messages between "this team isn't ready to make a run, let's not give up serious assets it's all about getting a young team experience" and "hey let's go get the coach 10 veteran forward options so that he can not play our 1OA draft pick every time he isn't a pt/game player for a stretch"

He is basicially Strome. The only reason I can see it is as plan D if Strome can't be resigned for whatever reason and Domi could be signed for less. Basically kick the can down the road on fixing that position with a stop gap until the cap rises.

Paul and Stastny would be a bootleg 3rd line but our best matchup line

How about Nick Bonino? Cap hit 2.05 for this year and next year. Plays center. UFA when he is 35. He is 33 now. Center ice help couldn't hurtm

If they retain half, maybe, but I wouldn't pay much for him regardless. At 1.025 for 1 more year, he could replace Rooney if Rooney wants more than that.

I'd be really happy with Nick Paul.

We need another matchup line. Zibs should not be the main and only matchup.

Whether it's Lehkonen or Paul, this is the type of players we need IMO

Hes kind of JT Miller lite. Perfect 3rd liner type to stabilize the huge disparity between our 1st 2 lines and 3rd-4th lines.

You know we have 6 elite players on this team. Kreids, Panny, Zibs, Fox, Trouba (depending on your take) , Shesty

2 blue chip young players (former top picks) with one hopefully emerging right now in Laffy.

1 kind of mid level guy in Strome.

The huge gap is really the monstrous drop off after these guys. We go from elite producers to almost black holes on the 3rd and 4th line.

I almost think we would be OK if we just get another decent player or 2 to add to Voltron.

You stabilize the 3rd and 4th line with guys that arent non contributors and can actually score.

Of course anytime you can add a 30+ goal scorer is great but if we sub out our basically sub 10 goal scoring forwards with a couple 15+ goal scorers with some better assist ability that will be a big step up for this team.

Vatrano for a 4th was really a good start. Rakell and/or Domi would transform the bottom 6 for us from one of the worst bottom 6 of the contenders to something right on par with those teams potentially.

I find it funny how Brooksie and most likely our coaching staff are quick to blame Laffy for 5v5 stagnancy. Not the vet guys making $15M... 5v5 is only contingent on the RWer? where's the logic? Why do the vets never get the blame for 5v5 issues.... it's always the kids.

Laffy's confidence was destroyed in that Minnesota game were Turtlehead Turk decided to put Reaves on the top line. He hasn't been the same since.

Domi is far from a physical presence on the ice. He's a pest. Unfortunately he's probably closer to Avery than Marchand in the sense that it seems like he sees hockey as a jumping off point into something else.

On the other hand, for a team that badly needs 5v5 scoring, we could do much worse than Domi. He's producing more at ES than anyone on the Rangers at this point. IF he can translate that rate to this team he can help turn the 3rd line into something impactful. He'd actually give Chytil a talented winger to skate with for a change.

If you can get him for a body and a mid round pick at 2:30 on Monday after missing out on other targets he's probably worth a dice roll but he shouldn't be at the top of anyone's list.

And those aren’t even counting the many scrums where he gets the better of opponents like when he beat the shit out of Scvechnikov recently, same to Ekblad. He is tough! And he is a funny guy

Trading for Kane would be extremely expensive and doesn't necessarily fix the flaws with this roster. 2 way players/weak middle6 centers/speed/forechecking.

He is shiny though and it would be fun to watch him with Panarin again. It would take a lot of assets to get him from Chicago and to get a 3rd team to eat even more salary.
